SK-II is amazing!! Totally changed my skin. My other favorite is Shiseido, but they discontinued my favorite line (Ibuki). Would also really recommend Shiseido sunscreens, super light and doesn’t leave a white cast (on my relatively pale skin tho)
Tatcha is amazing
^ it’s bc Tatcha is an American brand. Not Asian, and definitely not Japanese. It’s an American brand that markets itself as “Japanese” (but really more like exoticization of geishas and Japanese culture). That’s why even though it’s made in Japan, they don’t have any stores there (the Japanese consider it an American brand and would rather spend their money on local brands like Shiseido, etc)
The soko glam website has a lot of great Korean skincare!
Innisfree is my holy grail. I have extremely dry skin and have tried many many brands. Innisfree’s Orchid line is the only one that has worked for me.
Pro
I have used quarantine to watch skincare YouTube videos. Skincare by hyram is a great channel and he makes Asian brand recs - I think he has a recent video dedicated to this. I also love the beauty within channel.
Dr Jart hydrating sheet masks are amazing. If you buy from a Korean store rather than Sephora or Ulta, you can often get better prices/more selection. I really like the Toosoowong Propolis sheet mask and the Cosrx honey sleeping mask. Tatcha dewy skin cream is great too, but if we’re being honest, it’s not really Japanese
Oh also I’ll never stop using the Purito Centella unscented SPF. Super moisturizing and a dewy finish - it’s the perfect sunscreen imo
