This was my favorite place to stay in the city by far. However if you’re thinking just for a weekend, I’d pick one near where you think you’ll spend most of your time.

With an unlimited budget it would be the St Regis

like

Yeah don’t stay in Times Square. The closest I would’ve gotten was the Edition on 47th, but I think I heard that that was a Covid casualty?

like

No specific location in mind but I would probably try to stay close to west village/Chelsea and then subway up to whatever touristy things you want. It’s quick to get up and down Manhattan but more difficult to get crosstown

Renaissance midtown was a good location for being close-ish to everything. Not so great for immediate area but walk 20 minutes any direction and you’re good

Marriott Downtown in fidi was awesome!

like

This is not true, restaurants aren’t great, nightlife is just ok, and there aren’t any tourist attractions. Just the WTC and a mall. Plus the hotel is just ok

like

Definitely willing to consider alternatives to Times Square. I did see St Regis and it was not terrible with points. Is central Park too far to easily walk to places?

It was sufficient. Thanks and I will!

Does price matter to you? Stay at St Regis, great area to optimize food and daytime exploring, plus shopping. You can hop in Uber for nightlife. Edition Times Square is central, it’s very nice and upscale, though expensive for its small rooms. Great area for tourist exploration, if you want to feel like a tourist. Don’t eat in Times Square (unless it’s at the hotel). Good area for walking everywhere though. Central Park is a 10 min walk. The other Edition property is very nice and central to eating and exploring. There are also Marriott properties in Soho, which are less expensive. Good area for food and shopping.

So I said Fine everyone pay next year and they folded. I hate it there. But they are my family.

First year M&A associate. I never came into big law wanting /expecting to gun or make partner, and first year pretty much confirmed that. I'm more than happy to leave for in house in 4-6 years and live a much more chill life. Knowing this, what is the best way to max out the $'s? I'm thinking of considering auto-lateral at year 2/3 and again at 4/5 just for the signing bonus (I know things may change and maybe I wouldn't do it if I loved my firm or got an in house job), but is this viable?

Hi Folks - I wanted to understand..how is H1B 6 years duration counted? Is it strictly by the dates on the petition? In my petitions for example, first one was valid starting Oct 2017 and then I got an extension in 2020 till Feb 2023.. so that just equates to about 5 years and 4 months. So is my H1B only till Feb 2023 or it can extended to allow for the remaining period?
