Renaissance is probably your best bet, you should ask for the state capitol view
I'd be tempted to do the drive to Newport and stay at that Marriott
There’s a nice Renaissance north of Providence Place in a historic building but a block or two walk to things. There’s a Courtyard, also in a historic building, which is in a cooler and more walkable location right on the river. Trying to remember if there’s a Westin there too, if yes then it’s a good location too by providence place.
It’s been many years since I had a project there, but the Renaissance Downtown was a very good property 8-10 years ago. Check recent reviews but hopefully it still is.
Your choices are the Renaissance, courtyard, Marriott or residence inn. Residence inn is best value and Renaissance is the nicest
Agree on the Ren. Public, the in house restaurant, is fine, but several better options downtown. It’s also walkable from the Amtrak station if that’s how you’re arriving.
I've heard the Marriott Painting and Drywall is nice.
