Please don’t hire an MBA consultant for that purpose lol, one of the worst ways to throw away money I’ve heard
I got off the waitlist for my MBA2014. My advice I give others
- Take a breath. First of all, congratulations. You've made it this far. The school is interested in you and you've beaten untold # of other people to get there
- Work out a plan. For me I emailed back quickly saying that I'm still interested and will be providing additional material to my application shortly (1-3 weeks later)
- Look at your application with fresh eyes. The school only knows you from the paper you have provided. What holes / weaknesses are there? Was there something in the interview that stood out?
- Work out how to best address the above and write a letter to that effect. Include in this letter any new updates i.e. promotions, taken a leadership role in volunteering, etc.. Be sure to state clearly that if you are accepted that you will 100% accept the offer (schools hate it when students don't turn up on day 1 -- yes it happens more than you think).
- If needed, get a new reference to support a key point in the above. Draft a letter and ask the reference for help and you've made it easy for them with a draft letter they can use as a base or just sign
- I called the school/admit officer (didn't hound) to just verbalize what was coming and then mailed
- DONT DO ANYTHING ELSE. Don't be the person who 'hounds' the school with lots of emails/phone calls, etc. It's unprofessional and an MBA is all about being professional
- Optional, visit the school. I've been told the school doesn't take this into account in their considerations (most people think it shows they're keen) but it might help you validate if you're still interested or not.
Very important, if you are not interested, then tell the school. This means someone else might get in so be gracious and help someone else out.

Honestly just do a free consultation, unless you need help editing emails... they’re all going to tell you the same thing
