Finally started using personal capital and really like it! Only use it to track net worth. But if you’re looking for all inclusive(ie budgeting) PC had the function but not sure how robust it is. You can see transactions and etc on their main dashboard however.

So I track my monthly income, spending and savings. For my spending I break it down into categories (Recurring, transportation, food, personal, entertainment and other) Then savings track savings contributions across 401k Roth IRA, etc. Also record debt and cash assets too. I update bi-monthly when I get paid more often if I feel like it. Honestly I think the best way to think about it is like big buckets. I like Ramit Sethi & his breakdown (Adjust numbers how you like) Fixed costs- 50 % Guilt free spending - 20 Investments - 20 Savings- 10 Big numbers make thinking about the small expenses less so

I use Mint and have for years which is why I haven’t switched. But I’ve seen overwhelming answers that personal capital is better.

Yeah, I don’t have robinhood. I don’t know that didn’t work. It pulls in all my regular brokerage accounts just fine.

i use personal capital for net worth (bank accounts, credit cards, student loans, investments) and then track spending in my own spreadsheet since pc’s isnt greatttt. i know some people like YNAB but i haven’t personally used it

EY1 - would really appreciate if you could share the link of the google sheet or template

DM me if you want my referral link for Personal Capital. We’ll both receive a $20 Amazon gift card.

Can you share referral link here? Are there charges to south up for pc?

Personal capital is the best.

I’ve been using YNAB recently and it’s really good if you have specific goals you’re trying to hit - like paying off debt or saving for something. It’s a bit more active of a budgeting tool than Personal Capital or Mint I would say. Learning curve is a little rough right at the start - if you’re curious I highly recommend watch a YouTube tutorial when setting up your account and it will save you a lot of headaches trying to figure it out yourself.

I used Mint for years, but wasn’t a fan of: - the lack of basic transaction filter fields (like date!) - the rigidity or the categorization system - the lack of updates after the Intuit acquisition - the fact they sell all your data Transitioned to YNAB, which solves all the above, but is frustrating in its own ways - feels like it’s made more for people who are trying to pay off credit cards vs those who are don’t have any financial issues. Feels like a market gap here for something like Mint but better and with less selling-your-data...

Try Personal Capital. I initially started off using Mint and then used both Mint and Personal Capital for a year before ultimately deciding to use only Personal Capital. It’s great, but more geared towards investors and goal setters.

Everyone seems pretty comfortable having all their financial info consolidated in one place online.

Yup, I love seeing the net worth figure easily. Mint just got a big UI update on iPhone that made charts a lot more intuitive.

Live in the bay area and have a net worth of ~600K. This does include our house and 401K's. Both my partner and I are in our early 30's and I am unsure if we are making enough that it makes sense to live here. Our combined HHI is only ~260k. We both do not have any RSUs. Anyone in a similar situation and addressing the issue of potentially moving to somewhere more affordable like Texas?
