There are some efficiency studios near the Lincoln centre for about that price. You do get a shoebox but you can't beat the location of the price (esp if you travel for work)
I don't know the details. Use StreetEasy to localise the search and then filter the price to under $1800. If I get a chance today I'll have a look and post a link. There's always availability because there's so many of them
Astoria, if you are open to Queens. The transit would be faster than coming from an area in Brooklyn that has equivalent rent.

Uptown.
^ha no thanks I prefer not to hear gunshots when I’m trying to sleep
Lincoln Center is a great location. How much sq feet are we talking? Do they tend to list on Streeteasy or elsewhere?
I found them. Look for apartments in the buildings 238, 240, 242 or 244 on W 64th St
@P1, don't be so dismissive. I know people living in a studio right next to Lincoln Center for $1650.
Crown Heights
Beware of Brooklyn with L being out for 2018
You’d be surprised, it’s gentrified just like the rest of Brooklyn
I’ve lived in Brooklyn for 4 years yeah it’s gentrified but Crown Heights is still awful
I’ve been in Crown Heights for 2 years so you and I must have a different definition of awful

You won’t find anything in Lincoln center for that price. It’s a pricey area. Everyone else’s suggestions so far are spot on.
I live in the 63 west buildings on 63 and 64 near Lincoln center. They suck, moving out. Pics look way nicer online than they actually sre
PwC2 thanks for the info, can you share what’s wrong with them? You’d say it’s not worth the price?
