Old town and Lincoln park are good options too
I’m in old town!
You sound similar to me - single 20s M, active and healthy lifestyle but wanna be in a location for friends, girls, and the occasional party.
I moved to Lincoln Park in September and I really enjoy it. It's got a neighborhood feel but it's within 20 minutes of any of the hot spots in the city. West loop and old town are other good options as well.
Dude don’t spend $2.5k on rent if you only make $120k, that’s at the top of the recommended 30% of gross salary (which I think is an absurd number anyway). You don’t have to spend that much in Chicago, so save your money
I wasn’t planning on spending ~2.5. I’m just saying I would pay that much if need be. Obviously the less the better.
Gold Coast, Lake View, River North, or West Loop
No RN but GC/Streeterville will work (I’m in GC, and I like it)
Wicker Park or Bucktown! Cool bars and good concert venues nearby. Close to the blue line so easy access to the loop
Blue line also means easy access to and from ohare
I lived in River North at Wolf Point West and loved it. Good walking distance to everything and not too close to all the bars/clubs to be super annoying. Very nice amenities as well.
River north . Amli. Can do a nice studio for 1900. HMU for referral
Or you can get a 2BR in Lincoln park for that
All good recommendations. Will also add Wicker Park to the list since you’re clearly a consultant. Blue line and highway access (alongside your other asks) make this an awesome hood.
Streeterville
Highly recommend river north or Gold Coast. Central location to everything
How much do you make?
Nah was just asking because you can get a one bedroom for $2k in a place like Lakeview / Lakeview East just above the border of Lincoln park but figured it wasn’t worth mentioning if you were making crazy money. I make slightly less and got a modern one bedroom in a building in Lakeview East for $1600 a month (signed a 15 month lease to bring the rent down from $1770)
Besides neighborhood check out FLATS properties, apartment complexes with pretty good amenities. I'm living at the Lawrence House in Uptown and saving money, but they have several really cool properties all throughout Chicago.
Logan Square
If you are still looking you should also try Columbus plaza in new East side. You get great views of river and lake, and not to forget the Navy Pear fireworks. Around $1500-$1600 For a large studio. Hit me up for the referral if you want
I would personally recommend Logan square or wicker park. It’s got a mix of great restaurants and nightlife but also can be very residential and charming
Also it’s off the blue line and has such easy access to the airports!
River North would be your best bet IMO. One West Superior has great amenities and their convertibles are pretty cheap. I think you can get one for less than 2k.
Lakeshore East - Tides or Shoreham can get you referral if needed
