Becker final review. It’s a condensed version of the Becker that organizes the topics in a different way. Very helpful.

Study the multiple choice questions over and over. When you’re wrong, learn why so that you’re correct next time. (I used to oversee the development of FAR content.)

Do the sims!! My rationale was opposite to SAA1 - I figured if I can do the entire simulation, I will learn the entire concept, helpful for sims and MC

I made 95 on FAR the first time (please no comments on over studying; how are you supposed to know first time thru?). A few tips: 1. Wake up early and study. If you can only study and hour or two a day, get to work early and do it then. You will retain it better than working all day and cramming late. 2. Make flash cards: Becker does a good job on providing lots of acronyms to memorize. Make flash cards of these. Keep them with you. Pull them out whenever you have a free moment (on bus or train, in bathroom, waiting on your lunch, etc). Mark or retire cards you know well so you can focus on ones you don’t know. 3. Learn and understand cash to accrual adjustments and accrual to cash adjustments. Learn correction of errors, when error is in different places (such as beginning vs ending inventory). Learn how to post provision estimate adjustments. Becker had a good acronym (BASE) that addressed these. 4. With #3, if you don’t know debits and credits well, learn them. Fin Acctg is all about journal entries when you get down to it. If you struggle with the journal entry to post an expense, then you are starting from a poor foundation

I had to retake FAR after using Becker to study. I used NINJA the second time around which worked for me (scored 69 Becker, 86 NINJA). Good luck!

Should I go through all of Becker first, and then supplement with Ninja MCQs?

like

Make sure to know nfp and gov really well. I only went through lectures 1.5x speed and did all the mcqs once

like

Honestly, just get after it. Get home from work and study. Study on the weekends. Just get it done.

like

I just passed FAR using Wiley, and I had access to Becker - In my experience neither the Wiley or Becker practice sims are even close to how it is on the real exam. I just watched the lectures at 1.5x speed and drilled mcqs. Only sims I practiced were the codification ones

like

Read the book, take all mc until you get he right answer taking notes on questions you missed, do the sims, and take the practice exams.

like

Study before work. Study at lunch. Study after work and do everything by hand it reinforces the lessons

I didn’t purchase that... is it helpful?

MA1, would you suggest using Both? Or just one?

I pretty much only used NINJA the second time around but working through the Becker sims probably would have been helpful (just didn’t have access anymore). I spent a bit of time in the government and NFP sections in the physical Becker book for some areas not heavily covered in NINJA.

Agreed on doing multiple choice. I never (we’ll, rarely) did sims because my rationale was if I know the concepts on the MCQ, I can apply those same concepts to a simulation. Also second the ninja folks. I bought the audio when I had to retake FAR and would listen to it on my way to work. Sooo helpful. You also get like 3 “downloads” so I would share it with others in the office

Definitely study the sims now that the test has changed

How are Ninja sims?

If you have Becker I wouldn’t pay extra for ninja. There’s so much info on Becker it’d be hard to complete that and do ninja too

Some solid advice in here. I think the most important thing is to study hard. Too many people try to shortcut their studying. That's how you end up with a 74. Take it from me...I got back to back 74's on far.

I found Wiley helped teach me concepts that Becker made confusing - pushed me to a 77 at least, whew.
