Yes to both! I always try to think of something funny in the mins before the call. Then maintain that positive energy while pacing around and not looking at the time.

like

put your phone face down so you are not constantly looking at the time and freaking out

I've been through a bunch. make sure there are no network issues, speak at a good pace and make sure to hear them out too without minimum interruption.

Make sure your phone is on silent, not vibrate. There’s nothing like being in the middle of an answer and having your phone vibrate several times because of notifications coming in, throwing you off track.

Mute when you’re not talking. Never know what background noise person might be hearing no matter how faint it’ll sound to you. I could hear the sound of a running refrigerator of a phone candidate because the phone speaker at the other end picked up the sound and accentuated it!

Dress in your regular interview clothes. Sounds silly but I’ve found it helps me in the way I present myself, even over the phone.

I have an interview for a LTC/Rehab Nurse Manager, Infection Preventionist position next week. My base salary is $40/hour as a charge nurse. With overtime I’ll be finishing the year about $15000 above my base pay. I have questions: first, I know I’ll be putting in at least the same number of hours I’m current working (50+/wk). How do I leverage that to avoid a pay cut. Also, any tips from people in this position?

Thread: I’ve been talking to this company for months and the recruiter has been in and out with communication. A few weeks ago, he reached out, apologized for the delay and explained they needed to figure out role priorities but that they’re moving forward, I’m a top candidate, & they wanted to wrap up interviews and extend an offer the following week. He never reached out to set up interviews and hasn’t replied to any of my calls or emails.

I’m interviewing for a newly created position, Assistant Director of Communications & Outreach in my organization’s DEI office. This is the first interview they have requested after reviewing my writing sample. They didn’t say who specifically I would be interviewing with, but said “members of the DEI staff”, and it will be virtual.

What types of questions outside of my marketing/communications background should I expect?

Do teams wait to reject backup candidates until the preferred candidate has signed an offer? Did all interviews a few weeks ago and was told I’d get a decision ASAP but nothing yet. Hi all!

Well, here we go. 2023 is going to be THE year.

I'm incredibly knowledgeable in life insurance and annuities (former corp. trainer for large insurance company) and would love to get back into it, just not on the individual sales side. Ladder Life and Lemonade are my first choices, but the job ops are not syncing with my skills.

Any other insurtech companies you'd recommend?

Merci!

I get the feeling some companies are using the wave of tech layoffs as cover to get rid of low performers and cut costs. I have no doubt that many companies need to make these cuts. But some companies, Microsoft for example, are hiring tech folks like crazy and heavily recruiting while doing these layoffs. I don’t blame them, low performers are costly and kill teams. I just think it’s something to keep in mind, there’s a bandwagon effect here. Not every tech company is in dire straits.
