Carmax overprices. Try autotrader.com
I haven't personally bought a used car, but I've heard that Carmax is generally pretty fair and they don't haggle much. Worth checking out if they have a dealership near your town.
Carmax prices are inflated. I would try going to a competitor dealorship of the make you are looking to buy and see it they got any as trade ins.
Also, use auto trader to check prices, and don't limit the search radius.
Figure out what you want and negotiate online. Don't expect to get the best deal though - but you can get a really good one that way

Check out cargurus.com. It's awesome and even lists certified preowned cars. You can do your research from this site and then go to actual source for buying. I bought mine same way 😊👍🏼

Autotrader.com or ebaymotors.com (eBay isn't as sketch as you might imagine for a car).
Try Carvana. Apparently it's really awesome and no salesmen to deal with
True car does used cars now too (idk if through the app yet, but definitely on their website). Also, perks at work had a good Nissan/Infiniti deal last year. I bought through the site and saved 10k on my car.
