In no particular order:
Culver City.
Santa Monica.
West Hollywood
Beverly Grove
Hollywood
Koreatown!!! (Most centrally located neighborhood in LA)
Studio City
Pasadena (skews slightly older but tons of restaurants, bars and shopping in Old Town).
All of the areas noted above have public transit except for West Hollywood and Beverly Grove.
Of that entire list I would definitely place Pasadena in last place if you are young and single
And unless you can fly from Burbank, also terribly located if going through LAX

Generally speaking though - live as close to work or to a Metro station, as possible
West LA🙋🏻♂️
What about Hermosa Beach, Manhattan Beach and Santa Monica?
Santa Monica / Venice
DTLA
I think all three of those are great options but I would choose based on commute and type of area you want to live in. Obviously they are all beach communities, but SAMO is the youngest and the touristy-ist. So lots of great food spots and bars, but other trade offs. The others are great too, but a bit older scene
I’ve found this group is very west side skewed. Don’t discount neighborhoods like Hollywood or Silver Lake, even Highland Park or Ktown

Agreed. Personally I wouldn’t live any further than West Hollywood on the Westside; otherwise you are too detached from the rest of LA and everything the area has to offer.

I like DTLA a lot, but it’s not for everyone and can get overwhelming pretty quickly. One must have a high threshold of tolerance for homeless and uncleanliness.
