Personal email always. Don’t expose yourself to liability with your current employers.
What I mean by a numbers game is that you may find only 10% of your networking emails get read. So to have conversations with 10 people you should send 100 emails. (Just an example. Hopefully your response rate is high)
Follow up to OP’s question, personal email vs. school (university) email? I graduated now a year ago, and feel like an “.edu” email would look more credible, but maybe I’m out of touch for thinking school emails are of good use in networking???
University emails are golden while you are in school. Especially if networking with alum. Mine was deactivated a year after my graduation so unfortunately gmail only. I don’t know what the reaction is to .edu’s after graduation.
