Currently working at a Risk Consulting internship at one of the Big4 for the Summer. Been an enjoyable experience but honestly I’m kinda stuck on what I really want to do full time. Got a really big interest in the Tax environment as well. Majoring in Acc and MIS - Kinda can go either way with these majors. Any advice? (Also don’t think I’d be public accounting for life - So long term wise not sure which is better)
Anyone have insight on remote roles? Pros and cons? How’s career growth if you are primarily internal?
Since Covid happened, I keep seeing posts about people working longer hours from home than at office. Well has anyone actually achieved the opposite, which is working less hours? You save time on commuting, meaningless meetings, coffee breaks, random questions from coworkers, etc. This question doesn’t apply to parents with young kids.
What’s better being at a small consulting firm working with people you like and solid culture but lower pay. Or going to a bigger firm (Accenture, Big Four, etc.) with more competitive higher pay?
Anyone move from Big 4 to Grant Thornton? Any major differences? Thinking about switching.
XPost: How do you appease the client when they call and ask when their tax returns are done and they want them done now but they are further down the queue of returns because they submitted their PBCs later than other clients who submitted their source docs on time?
Was referred by an MD at a firm for his practice; recruiter reached out for availability - then proposed a time…I totally forgot to confirm the proposed time (which has now passed) then I misspelled her name in my panicked apology note. What a start to the day…it’s a great role too
I need help with my daily makeup routine/application. I'm looking for a natural smoky look a la Olivia Pope/Kerry Washington. Any recommended tutorials to help me re-learn how to apply? Prefer someone who gets to the point, talks about technique and keeps it simple. Bonus points if there's someone who helps you identify the best looks for your eye shape. Does this unicorn exist?
Was laid off in April and just got an offer for 25% more than i was making but for a role that I am not too excited about. Times are tough and i do need to get income. How bad is it to accept but continue with the rounds of interviews I started for roles I am more excited about?
What are your top 3 lesser-known branding studios? Looking for some new wells to drink from.
ORD is a shitshow this morning.
Can you get the delta variant if you already had covid? Vaccinated but been feeling sick with covid symptoms
Has anyone seen or discussed this Petition for SHRM must support Black Lives Matter & the LGBTQ community? I’ve grown increasingly concerned and disappointed in SHRM’s lack of vocal support for employment protections for LGBTQ+ and black and brown workers, especially as a black woman in HR. It seems like SHRM is overly focused on what is absolutely “legal” and not what is right. I’m of the opinion HR professionals must not only be “legal” but have a relevant and compassionate stance
If I get an offer elsewhere, with a higher salary offer, will Deloitte increase my salary to keep me?
I have visa stamp valid until 2022. I am not in USA and planning to get back within a week, Am I allowed to enter ? Wife on stamped h4, is she allowed too ?
I have been offered a 25 percent hike at a big 4 but have another offer with 40 percent hike in a Boutiqe firm. I asked the HR of the big 4 if she could adjust since I have a 40 percent hike letter. She said she’ll check. She hasn’t gotten back to me yet. Should I contact her? Currently working at one of the Big 4.
Blunt message I give to 1st years: "Everyone assumes you have the skills and knowledge of a toddler. Don't talk about what classes you took or your internship. Say and be open to anything."
For those in smaller high growth tech companies, where do you turn for resources on org development, engagement, trends, etc.? I’m moving from a large tech org to a a 150 person company. SHRM does not seem relevant at all. Podcasts, social media followings, etc?
Correct way to record time? I travel for my engagements but it seems if you’re traveling, it counts against your total billable time. I just think that’s weird. Am I doing this right?
I’m starting to wonder if the Biden admin assigned Kamala this “border excursion” to watch her fail. I liked her better before she gave interviews.
