1.open vanguard 2. 100% vtsax
Vanguard Index ETFs to start. Im a fan of passive investing and believe in the simple four-fund approach. So I suggest blend of VTI, VB, VXUS and BND. The allocation across the four funds is dependent on your risk tolerance.
I gave you what are commonly known as the best ETF index funds amongst passive investors that utilize the 4-fund strategy. I guess I'll give you a target allocation for the 4 funds...this would be considered fairly aggressive, 70% VTI, 10% VB, 10% VXUS and 10% BND. If you want to be even more aggressive, back off a few % points from BND and add them to the VB or VXUS funds. Go check out bogleheads.org for some more detailed advice
What is your risk appetite ?
Relatively risky I would say. Not trying to live out of a box though if all falls through.
Have 12% going into my 401k (plus employer match)
Throw a few hundred into the stock market every month or so and trying to increase my investment potential
Given risk profile you sound comfortable going 100% equities
Thank you all for the advise, will most likely go vanguard with the advise given above (or a mix).
I've heard three/four find approaches are a good place to start since you're instantly diversified.
Passive equity funds
Can elaborate on passive equity funds?
Mix US and International options as well
This is all great information, and I thank you all ☺️
Could we be a little more detailed on specifics please?
I.e.: Do you have any US/Int options in mind? Any passive equity funds, etc?
Op, vtsax is total stock market. All equities and taxes an index of world wide markets. Otherwise go to bogleheads for some good info
I have vanguard. Low cost index fund all the wayyyyy
