Debating betwn staying on with current team after negotiating a 30% increase or accepting PT role, with this negotiated increase the hourly pay is $1 different. (Prior to this I was making nearly $11 less/hour from PT role) PT role was 20 hours/week and emailed ask if I’d be open to 30 which is more appealing. 7.5 YOE in current role, worried about losing seniority in economic climate and risk to layoffs in PT role but being a parent I have been seeking more time not working too. I feel left out in my firm. How do I make 'friends' with my colleagues? I've been here for a year. I am naturally not a very out going person, was never 'cool' and I struggle to speak in group situations / make engaging conversation with higher ups. It is an important trait to have in this job and I just don't know how to do this. It makes me very upset - I even sought therapy but wasn't useful. I managed to be hired by a really good company so naturally the impostor syndrome in me is now in full gear. Obviously, I must know things to have been hired, but I feel like there's so much I still don't know about product design. I got here through short courses and some books and articles and faking it till I made it. I am thinking to take a proper PD course now that I can afford it, if not to learn something new, then to affirm what I already know.

For large complex projects that require specific screens for every user story in Jira, how do you juggle responsive design?

My initial approach was to get approval for the desktop screens, before creating screens for tablet and mobile, to prevent rework.

However, the time is now coming to design 80+ screens for tablet and mobile, and the stress is starting to increase.

What’s the best way to design for desktop, tablet, and mobile in a two week agile sprints with usability testing?

What are actionable items one should strive for when trying to grow as a designer after landing their first role? I hear a lot about ways to grow to land the first job but very little about how to improve after you know the basics.

How do you know you’re a good designer? I get most of my ideas from being inspired by other work and just creating what I feel looks good. I know how to use design programs. But, I don’t know if that’s enough.

Any program recommendations for building decks for clients? About to join a consulting firm as a UI Designer. Any experiences in working in that industry?

I started a new job a month ago and I hate it! I hate the culture (there is no culture) the way that they communicate (no meetings everything in slack) and the way that they work (alone) It feels pretty much like I am freelancing and I thrive in collaborative environment. I have never felt this isolated in my whole life. It sucks.
Has anyone been in that situation? If I look for another job, should I remove that experience from my linked in? Or should I talk about that if I get interviews?

What would your reaction be after finding out your near identical counterpart makes 10k more than you do? Would you still want to relocate to your office’s city after finding out? Don’t get me wrong, I know I got the short end of the stick and I plan on leaving once I hit my year mark in 6 months. I just am so saddened yet not actually surprised that my agency did that to me.

I'm interviewing for Sr Product Design positions & each interview is 30 minutes to share 2 case studies. With only 12 min/case study (I eat up some time introducing myself & setting up the work), does anyone have advice on what to make sure I show? It's so hard to hit all the points they I'm trying to hit: problem definition through user research, wireframes, design exploration, usability tests, prototypes, final designs, red lines, engineering handoff, KPIs. Any advice or examples?

Who has worked with company NDAs in the past? Not Client NDAs, but one that was put forth by the company you work for? To me, it gets real sticky with being able to show work in your book if you have signed an NDA.

I was “terminated” from one of the shitty IT conglomerates from India today. for no reason at the same time I’m furious because I have documented all the discrimination , sexism, harassment, labor laws broken, intimidation tactics , harassment of various kinds including sexual, so I am demanding a larger severance package the. What they offered which was nothing. I have documented all proof of this. They have consistently set me up in situations designed for me to fail.

Hey Designers! So I’ve been at my current design studio for a little over 10 years. It’s a small studio—2 partners, now 3 additional designers, not including me. I’ve been asked a few times over the years if I’d be interested in being a partner but have turned it down.
