JW Marriott in bogota.. W Bogota is nice too but service is iffy and the area is not close to all the action.

Artisan DC in bogota is nice too but the rooms are small. The Sheraton, Marriott, Aloft and Courtyard are all near the airport and can be nice if you get into BOG late. There’s also a four points in BOG that’s a decent area and is dirt cheap. Far nicer then any four points in the US. Medellin, Cali and Barranquilla also have four points that are nice compared to the US locations. Other then that, no other Marriott or SPG in Colombia. I’ve stayed at every Marriott and SPG in Colombia besides Barranquilla.

Anything outside of Bogota? Looking to see Medellin and Cartagena as well

I believe medellin is about to get a full service Marriott but outside of that it’s a 4 points by Sheraton but they’re nice too.

Following. Also going to Colombia soon

Awesome thanks! Sad that there isn't anything in Cartagena...

Jealous. From there, wish I could get on a project that took me there to visit fam

Not on a project, just visiting because I've heard it's a beautiful country!

OP watches Narcos once and thinks he is Pablo and goes to Columbia But for real try renting an Airbnb out there, I know us consultants love hotels and the points but there are some really nice choices you can pick from

@EY1 At least I know it's spelled as "Colombia"

But thanks for the suggestion. I'm cheap and have a ton of SPG points to burn, which is why I'm looking at hotels

If you don’t speak Spanish AirBnB may be rough... Colombia does not have a lot of Spanish speakers outside of hotels and some younger, affluent people. It’s a beautiful country, second most bio-diverse in the world. Regardless if Narcos was your decision to go down there, you will have a good time. If you really want to go off the beaten path I recommend the “Lost City” or San Andres island. No SPG there :).

Nothing in Cartagena but the new place in Medellin was super nice -request for the fourth floor poolside rooms

I’ve stayed at the Medellin Four Points 3 or 4 times over the years and it does the trick. Great value and they have a fairly priced spa on site. Walkable to Parque Lleras which is the primary dinner and party spot for gringos.

Spent a few days in Cartagena last month. Incredibly city, but I wouldn’t stay on the strip where the hotels are. It’s too far away from the old town, you can’t walk to anything and honestly takes away from the charm of the city. If you’re going to go (can’t speak for Medellin or Bogota) stay in the Old Town at an AirBnB, you’ll be glad you did.

My wife is on L2 visa, waiting for USCIS to change the I 94 so she can work. In the meantime, can she start a job with a company in India, travel to US on L2, and continue to work remotely? She will start her US job as soon as her I94 change comes through or EAD is approved. What if any are the legal ramifications of working for a foreign company while on L2?
