I’m currently a tax manager and have decided I’m ready to leave the firm and public accounting. Has anyone ever had this conversation with their partner before having a job lined up? Curious if that’s a good idea (i.e. partner can help you find a landing spot) or a bad idea.

I think I'm really bad at communication, storytelling, active listening etc. I'm good at 1-1 relationships, but really bad in 1-many scenarios. I just sound stupid often. Hey guys! When do you think would be a good time to ask for a internal transfer? Just joined a company but I’m more into advisory or consulting side of things. My company does have a service line in Accounting and Business Advisory, and also due diligence and transaction advisory. But I feel really bad if I tell people I wanna transfer after just a month I started and also I have no idea who I should be reaching out. If I don’t do it now would it be harder later?
