Pretty inexperienced at 24 and have been using Questrade for about 6 months and happy with it so far. I mostly own stocks listed on US markets and haven’t had any trouble purchasing/selling. I’ve used customer service a few times to journal over shares with no issue.
I think the answer really depends on how you intend to invest. A few of my friends use WealthSimple in addition to Questrade, but I haven’t looked into it too much.
I use wealthsimple for my TFSA, with a growth allocation. Service is great and I'm quite happy with the decision.
Depends on your strategy and how involved you want to be and where you want to invest.
Keep in mind you can have multiple TFSA accounts as long as contributions combined are within limits
My best advice:
Wealthsimple (Overall portfolio management, this is best option for people that just don’t want to spend time)
Wealthsimple trade for Canadian ETFs and Cdn stocks.
Questrade for American Stocks
In terms of portfolio: I have a rainy fund but everything else is invested into a diverse array of stocks / ETFs (REITs, Dividend stocks, tech plays like PLTR/TSLA). Feel free to msg if you want more on this
