Today was a rough day. Found out I didn’t get a new position at work, it had been filled 2 wks ago but I was never notified. It wasn’t “complete” in workday so it prevented me from applying for other positions within the company. Now those positions are also filled. I need to find another position making more money and utilizing my degrees. I have a MA in leadership and working on my MBA. I feel like there are no opportunities for me. And then my spouse and I got into a huge fight tonight.

How important are letters of rec? I was on one project for 2.5 years (big IT transformation). I got incredible reviews from my managers and client when there but didn’t leave on the best terms with the account team. I left before go live to find a role in my actual practice/aligned to my interests and now sense some politics/saltiness on their end. Truthfully I don’t know that I could trust the supervisor to give me a great review after some of what I’ve seen. I have few other options CONT

I got a referral for ORMB consultant at Infy. The requirement was B.E. with 2 years of experience. I'm not from engg background and got no experience in this profile still my CV got shortlisted. I got interviewed for 1st round which went bad per me but I made through. 2nd round was scheduled with PM but then got cancelled and the HR said you are shortlisted for associate Consultant position and 1 round is enough. I am fairly confident I can become a service partner at my firm. At the same time, I work in a field where clients are very, very difficult to come by, and therefore fear being a service partner having my work edited by a boss (the partner bringing in the client) forever. Is this a legitimate fear, or is it inevitable that service partners who stick with it will get their own clients/work in the long run? I want to be my own boss 20 years from now.
