My best work comes from previous colleagues and clients, they weren’t advertising a need but I let people know I was available and the work followed. If you’re moonlighting on the side while still working full time I imagine it’s harder to broadcast your availability but I’d start by private messaging your LinkedIn contacts from prior gigs who might now be in a position to send some work out.

It’s actually not easy. Just keep sending your link and introducing yourself far and wide. When they ask where you’re based then you can say where, but maybe they will be in such a jam they don’t care.

I have so much mom guilt sending my baby to daycare. She’s 6 months old. The transition has been harder on me than her (she seems fine and happy, just isn’t sleeping well there yet) but I wonder if I should try and find a different solution. Part time nanny, part time daycare? We can’t afford a nanny full time. If I’m WFH and we have a nanny part time is it realistic that I’d see her during the day or am I kidding myself?

Deloitte ARAS vs. EY FAAS. Does anyone think there's any real difference between the two? It mind of seems like Deloitte's ARAS may involve more technical accounting (vs. like just prepping financial statements, ensuring compliance, etc.), but it's kind of hard to tell. I guess this may be more office specific (dependent on projects each office gets) than anything else? Also, does anyone know if Deloitte or EY expects people to be back in office most of the time anytime soon? Would prefer WFH..

How many of you have flexible work arrangements where you're able to work from home one or more days per week?

There is a paralegal (not mine) in my firm that is making everyone miserable. She cries at her desk, complains about being overworked and is rude to the other paralegals, staff, and a couple of the attorneys. She is so disrespectful to me that I recently asked to work from home for a month (I am dealing with some other mental health issues and she is too much). My request was granted, and last Friday I was in the office to make sure several motions were filed properly. Continued in comment:

Fairly confident I’ll get an in industry offer this week! Mixed feelings though... Main reason for leaving is WFH consulting just simply isn’t enjoyable. Getting harder for me to see the value in grinding for consulting. Is this short term thinking off? Do people think weathering this storm will give potential raises / promotions soon? I just don’t see consulting going back to what it use to be for ~2 years. I’m a consultant level going for promotion to manager.
