I was not yet in the job market last recession but I watched my mom get laid off and struggle to find employment during that time for the next 1.5 years. Just started doing PI in the side at my firm so probably a dumb Q, but when you get a new auto accident client and the at-fault driver’s insurance is offering to pay for the damage to their vehicle, do you have them accept that or wait and include the amount in your demand with the medicals and other damages? If they pay before you settle, wouldn’t you recover less, as your contingency fee would be out of the subsequent settlement?

I’ve been an environmental, health and safety professional for about 6 years. Previously I worked in emergency services (fire, EMS and HAZMAT) for 12 years. When I changed careers I enjoyed the EHS world and it was challenging but lately I’m not interested in it and have been thinking about either changing fields completely or trying to do a more specialized part of EHS. First year here. Compiling sig pages for a deal, for 4 different agreements. I’ve finished drafting the sig pages for one agreement. Do i still go ahead and make the changes (whereof clause and the footer) for the other 3 and then submit everything, or submit this first one, finalize changes, then do the other 3?

Moving into a house that I bought 3 months ago and leased back to the sellers. The sellers left it in pretty rough shape, both inside and outside. Our realtor is sending a team of cleaners and landscapers to fix it up. Our realtor stated she will cover the cost of this since the seller is unwilling to pay. What’s the etiquette around this?
