I had resigned from a job a few weeks ago. I’m entitled to 2 weeks (10 days) of vacation pay. I used 1.5 since January 1st. Will I be paid out the vacation pay that I earned from Jan-June, or the full 8.5 days that I would’ve had left?

I was at my wit’s end with this job anyway, but the kicker for me is a group of coworkers this morning making fun of someone else for taking time off “just because you have the days available”.

Looking for a vacation home/weekend rentals next weekend in any of the western suburbs, preferably Naperville. Any ideas on alternative sites to search? Not too many options on Airbnb or vrbo

How does your firm deal with underperforming associates? We are crazy busy but have a couple first-years on vacation, 50-100 hours per month, and thinking we are a "lifestyle" firm. I don't want to just fire them, at least not yet, but I want to see a change. How many second chances do you give? How many months under budget?

A lot of post about working in tech seem to focus on two things: making six figures and (unlimited) PTO policies. These things are great but with the recent wave layoffs and uncertainties about what retirement is going to look like moving forward what is something that you’re doing with that tech paycheck now that may not have an immediate benefit but is focused on planning for the future?

How much should I charge a friend to watch 4 dogs at their home over Christmas weekend (2 nights)? The dogs don't have any special needs or medications. I've dog sat for other people in the past but always for free. I also have had dogs of my own for most of my life. I want to start charging people for my services but also want to be reasonable since this is a friend and don't plan to charge a holiday fee. We live in St. Louis. Would $40 per day/night be reasonable?

I have a month of pto scheduled for Dec that expires by Jan if i don’t take it. Client desperately needs me to stay on because no one else is available to take my place. Manager is asking me not to take PTO. I’m not one to bend under pressure but what kind of repercussions are there if I do take my vacation? What do you think happens when I get back?

I'm on a H1B so I am supposed to pay Medicare and SS taxes, but my employer has not withheld anything- my hnr block advisor caught that but she just completed my returns assuming I don't have to pay those taxes

What is the right protocol in this case? Do I owe SS and fica taxes?

I currently work as an APM at a FAANG company but recently received an offer to join an MBB. I’m very excited about the role but didn’t realize I’d need to take a pay cut when I applied (~100k base + ~20k bonus + ~60k equity vs. 90k base + 10-20k bonus). Considering that I currently work 40-60 hours/week, I’ll be making significantly less per hour at the MBB.
