I just finished my first full year at my firm and got close to hitting my billable requirement but fell a little short. Had a death in the family and my mom has been sick, which was distracting. Covid stopped travel billing for court/depo. Firm said I will not get a bonus OR a raise next year if I don’t hit hours. I understand the bonus part, but shouldn’t raises be based on tenure/seniority? I still do great work for the firm and clients are happy. Just curious what other firms do for raises.

My brother is getting married and his fiancé told me I’m in the wedding party. She also invited me to her bachelorette party which I don’t really want to attend. It’s a weekend in her college town and a 10 hour drive or $400 4 hour flight with a stop. We aren’t close, she is quite a bit younger than me & we don’t have a lot in common. We’ve only spent time together during a handful of family weekends over the years (I am not close with my brother either). Do I have to go or can I make an excuse?

What are your thoughts on domestic family air travel this summer? Planning to fly to Naples, FL for two weeks in July to stay at a family member’s empty second home. There is a pool that the kids can swim in everyday, which we think is so needed. I’m conflicted bc on one hand I think airlines are being very good about enforcing rules so people feel comfortable flying, and I also want some fun for the kids before the fall comes and we potentially go back into a quarantine situation. I am alot tensed these days, i see alot of schoolmates who were not good in studies are now doing some father/own business in hometowns and owning 1,2,3 cars like safari, thar, endeavour, fortuner, scarpio and its me like who have done graduation in decent college and is able to save upto 7-10L in 2 years.
