I think the nail was hit on the head above. London is a major global city and you will work there are are more sophisticated transactions/projects. Although the impact of Brexit may be good or bad in that regard. I can make arguments both ways. lived and worked in London for 4 years. They were amazing years. I grew a lot personally and professionally. I also saw Europe as travel is easy there However Sydney is one of my favorite cities. It is an outdoor city. The Aussies have a healthy perspective on work life balance. They work but they also hit the beach. While a major city too, its remoteness makes it pretty cool too. Sure harder to travel but Australia and NZ offer a lot of travel in their own right. I guess for me, if you are looking to go away for a couple of years and then come back to the States I would say go to London. If you are looking for a permanent change and place to live go to Sydney. Ok, that may be a bit extreme but I think you won’t want to leave Sydney after being there. You are going to have a great time and experience either way. Good luck. Let us know what you decide and when we can visit you!

London. I just had a senior manager from Australia transfer to London and then her UK visa expired after 5 and she went back to Aussie. She said she hates it now for the sole reason in London you get exposure to large, global clients. What global company do you know based in Sydney?

I’m in Advisory and considering a transfer to the EY office in either of those two cities. I’ve heard that culturally, London is more fast paced while Sydney and Australia, in general, is more tame. London is attractive given the opportunities professionally and how easily I’ll be able to travel around Europe inexpensively. In contrast, Australia seems appealing because of the work life balance I may have. Thoughts?

My ED did a 7 year rotation in the Sydney office and said she loved it so much and never wanted to come back to the states! She said people are way more chill and less stressed, great work life balance, and none of the work is rushed. Besides, she said it’s beautiful too and took the boat to get to work everyday!

What allows you the option? Curious what field and what level

She’s bored in Aussie now

I think I'd rather go to Melbourne than Sydney.

From talking with people working in the US from Australia it's just more hip. It's a more diverse city. Idk I'm from NYC so from what they were saying they said I would enjoy Melbourne more.

I guess it’s a matter of I want and I have to think about what that is. Maybe not over think like I tend to, but just the right amount 😋 Thank you all!!
