Big 4. Last year was a promotion year for me, and I killed it. Got the promo, the highest performance rating, a 15% raise, and a 20% bonus.

Congratulations! Got a promotion last year, with a good performance bonus%. Partner reduces the performance bonus to 5% cause apparently he thinks the hike “he provided” was good enough ! 🤷‍♀️

like

Din know that either until I was called for a comp discussion where I was informed about my promotion and my performance %... followed by, cause we gave you a good hike, we are reducing your bonus to 5%. And that’s what goes into the letter. I never knew this was possible!

Odd gloat but understandable nonetheless

Astounding non-admonishment of self proclaimed unmeasurable, yet sufficient effort indeed

That’s a non issue here at ey, our bonuses are crap no matter what rating you get

Nice.

Alix Partners. We get 10%-15% raise every year, with or without promotion.

I’m doing well this year, but not sure I can get the same rating amongst a bunch of experienced managers. I’m worried that if I get a mediocre raise and bonus, I’ll actually earn less this year. Is that possible? Is your total comp year over year considered when bonus decisions are made?

likesmarthelpful

15% more than I did last year.

KPMG giving me 25% for early promo and 18% bonus.

Why do you care so much?

Why do I care about my total comp? Because I don’t particularly like consulting, but the year over year increases have been a good motivator for me. If those increases go away, I’ll likely go do something else

Sounds pretty low for manager bonus

Well, as a manager, your bonus band is higher. I got a 1 on my SC to M promo year, and 1 on my first year as a manager. Still made more the second year.

Congratulations

What is the point you are trying to make ? - from train spotting

For anybody who was worried, I gathered a bunch of feedback about my project delivery, coaching, and practice development and had a great conversation with my coach. Made a solid case for a 1 rating and they agreed. Now I need to wait and see if it holds up

Congrats but really dude, chill and enjoy life

Newly promoted experienced hire SC making $113k, 10 YOE (switched industries). Got an offer from TCS in an Advisory practice (not the tech sweatshop stuff that I keep seeing people mention). FYI - I have 2 kids, so that kind of pay raise is kind of a big deal.
