I feel like you know the answer you're just looking for validation
That’s not true. I have CFO’s at my larger clients making mid $200’s. Today working at a NFP will give you a greater sense of purpose. I made the move myself but came back to public because I missed the excitement. Sounds like a very good move. DM me if I can help
And.....be honest, you missed the $$$!!!
When I audited NFP clients, some larger ones have controllers making more than200k, but they are all old and served more than decades. And they are very hands on
Does controller also deal with taxes?
The way I look at it is ‘would I regret not doing it at all when I’m x years old. What could/would be different between now and then?’ Public accounting will always be hiring so that is always something I can fall back on or just find another position at a different place. Honestly, nothing is as “exciting” as PA because of the grind. If, it is exciting or like a fire drill then something must be going wrong.
