Big 4 staffs and seniors, do you get the exposure to prep a return in its entirety? (Fed and states?). How much of a return to you get to see and prepare on your own?

Literally all of it

Ya, what they said. Associate preps it start to finish, senior reviews it start to finish. If you miss anything you will hear about it from the manager.

So I guess it matters what you mean as “prep” and did they come from a SALT group? Because then that makes sense. And for TM1, I mean India prepped it but it was never correct so staff had to fix and then senior had to fix staff mistakes.

At EY the team will work on all the compliance by client. So the staff will prepare the whole fed return and the states as noted above. I know that my friends at other firms will only do the fed and pass the states off t lo another group.

uplifting

All of it. Then Senior reviews.

When I was at a big 4 India prepped all returns and local staff went on "special projects." And the managers and senior managers complained that all the staff were incompetent...

New staff from a big 4 never prepared a federal return, just states. So i had to ask here.

I’ve only done state returns. Through interviews for a new job I know that I’m behind my peers.

All the WPs then all of the return. We do federal and states in my group. We use India to prep maybe 50% of the time

Coming from a big 4 - Can we mention the names of the clients we have worked with over the years when interviewing? I am at a boutique agency now working with some people who came from Accenture and some other consulting companies and I noticed that they will reference their clients by brand name. If it is a past project and you do not give any client sensitive information is it OK to share the names of the brands that you've worked with in your previous role? What's standard?

Any insight into Mastercard Advisors? Have a new grad opportunity there. My start date at a B4 strat got postponed so decided to interview around. I'm interested in data + analytics and would want to go into industry eventually, but conflicted because unlike BA programs at CapOne or Visa, you're still working for an external client. Feel like there will be a broader variety of projects in B4 and while I'm casually interested in fintech, I don't want to get pigeonholed in FS so early on

I don’t think I will be getting an offer from my current agency as it seems they are focusing on hiring more senior level management. Is anyone hiring or does anyone have any leads/ someone who could refer me for a junior position? It would be much appreciated as a fresh grad. Thanks!! 🤠
