big island, HI recommendations please! Which Marriott? Any other better hotels? Activity for a couple with no kids.

The Big Island is a great choice! My husband and I rented a car and stayed at the Waikoloa Marriott And Spa. We did the traditional pig roast at the hotel and would recommend it. The hotel will arrange for excursions, but it’s a fairly small island and you can do lots of day trips. Honestly, we went to Walmart and bought snorkel sets and explored various beaches and coves in our own. If you want to go to Volcano National Park, you may want to plan to spend a night or two near the park or in Hilo. You can go on a coffee farm tour. Make sure you get an Acai bowl and a Poke bowl before you come home. Yelp is your friend.

Also recommend Waikoloa Village! A rental car is a must on the big island. Do a helicopter tour of the Kohala Coast (waterfalls galore)! I recommend Blue Hawaiian Helicopters; they are a 5 minute drive from Marriott in Waikoloa Village. The volcano is a fun day trip from Waikoloa. It is a lot of driving but fun to explore on your route and stop at local places. Hilo was not our favorite as it is very rainy and a much colder micro-climate, so I wouldn’t recommend staying on that side of the island. Go to Costco for your alcohol if you are a member. Save yourself some money and mix your drinks for the pool in big mugs you bring from home!

Costco is also a great place to get local chocolate and macadamia nut treats to bring home for friends and family.

Sheraton in Kona is decent. For other ideas see below and check alt travel adventure link in there https://joinfishbowl.com/post_7ycabv

Do you like coffee? There are countless coffee plantations to visit, often for free or very cheap. Good food and beer at Kona Brewing. Nice beaches, but some have old lava flows — you’ll want good shoes to protect your feet from being scratched up. Visit the green sand beach but get ready for a 2-3 mile walk with no facilities — there are also people who will take you on the trail in their pickup truck, but I didn’t trust it. There is a Courtyard in Kona — it’s fine. Nice to walk to the village area and the farmers market on the weekend, but the hotel itself was dated.

Thank you all for your advice!!! I used my miles and points to book flights and Mauna Kea Marriott. Rented car on Costco using CSR.

Leave for another consulting firm even tho I’m up for promotion in a few months at my current firm? Pros of leaving are better work life balance, not stuck in one industry, minimal travel. Cons are comp - I’d be making slightly less base than what I would after promo (tho higher then right now) and significantly less bonus

I need some help. I need to lose 40 lbs. 5’2, 170 lbs. i started working out more but then stopped because I was miserable doing it. Decided to focus on diet and I just end up binge eating. WFH also makes it harder to be active esp when working out (the cardio at least) makes me so miserable. I do walks sometimes but that obviously doesn’t burn enough to mean much. One basic question on long term travel. The income is shown as my income plus whatever I spent as part of deloitte due to travel. Due to this I'll fall in higher tax bracket. So will deloitte pay for that additional tax that Ill end up paying on my actual salary due to higher bracket taxes?

How do you know when you have enough money? I got laid off in the spring, but don’t feel a pressing need to get a new job right away. Have 3 rental properties, all paid off, get about $3k/mth net from that, have about $200k in a 401k and another $200k in more-liquid investments. I spend less than $2k/mth and feel happy and comfortable. Not married and no kids... but would like that one day, so thinking of maybe saving some more money for that. Anyone been in a similar situation? Any advice?
