Former McDermott associate here. Sure culture varies by office/practice group but it is definitely not on the “worst” list and likely is among the best- it’s more of the humane biglaw firms out there.
Best: Keker, Cooley, Gibson.
Worst: Kirkland, Quinn if you don’t thrive in that environment, McDermott.
Source: personal experience, co-counsel, friends.
Jones Day. The firm of the people, for the people, shall not perish from the Earth.
Best: OMM, Willkie, top boutiques
Worst: S&C, Cadwalader, Jones Day, Kirkland, V&E, McDermott

That’s kind of crazy because everyone I know at Kirkland funds practice is hitting 2500 this billable year. We’re all midlevels so maybe there is a gap because of year.
I’ve always heard Ropes’ culture is fantastic

A36, no. Stop this nonsense.
Think Mofo is pretty great but depends on the group
Morrison & Foerster
It really all just depends on office / group

I think Winston has a great culture. Strong mentorship. Commitment to diversity (they put their money where their mouth is). No screamers. Minimal facetime.
I have a friend who was at Winston in Chicago for like 6 years who would vehemently disagree with the statement that their culture is great.
Best: Weil Gotshal (at least my group)
Concur
Worst: Hunton in California. When approximately a dozen associates leave your 25 attorney office in 2 years it's time for some introspection
A23 it’s not outside of California. CA is truly a special place for L&E
Best: Gibson.
Was at Gibson OC, litigation. Firm's lowest billing office. "Good as big law gets" seems accurate.
Best: OMM
At least in DC, they just have a lot of cool, down to earth people, and the partners genuinely care about the associates.
I’ve heard the opposite about their CA offices (from lawyers who worked there).
Worst: DC office at Covington.
AGC1, I am dying to know why you think this.
I’ve always heard good things about Mintz.
Which practice group was she in at W&C in NY?
Best: Haynes Boone TX offices
LOL
Best: Polsinelli PC
Not sure. I think so but I started after
Best: Jackson Lewis
A22: your measure of biglaw is obviously different, I get it. No need to be obnoxious. It’s literally just a term

Willkie has a great culture
This is like a legacy thing they definitely do not have a good culture currently
Best: BakerHostetler
Though lifestyle is group specific, I think Kilpatrick has a great culture all around
Troutman Pepper: really good.
