Looking for some guidance or similar experience. I have 3 years of experience in the health care industry (1 year clinical, 2 years admin). I have my MBA with an emphasis in health care admin. I’m struggling to grow my career or find a higher level position. I have applied to various positions within my area and just can’t seem to get an offer. Should I consider changing industries or what can I do to stand out? More certifications? Additional schooling?
For anyone who has taken CISSP- if you used the Boson practice tests, how much should you score in Boson to be sure to pass the actual exam ? What’s a good indicator? 70% in Boson=70% on actual test? Or 80/90?

Simply curious to have opinion on doing the CBV with my background (difficulty, worthiness of it, etc). If it's of any use I would like to transition into corp dev/M&A post MBA graduation (no intention of doing CFA but looking to get an edge)

Anyone on here on H1B and have moved on from consulting? What was the process like for switching H1B to the new company? Did you have to accept the offer before they started the H1B petition for you? Or was it more like a verbal offer?

Which firms have an upward review system?
How many bonuses come around in a year at the average law firm? Number of occurrences more importantly, but y’all can provide amount too if you like
Junior at a big firm. New to this culture because I used to work in house. When a partner emails you on a weekend in the day time, do you answer within the same day? For ex, partner emailed me at 4pm.. I was out so I didn’t answer their question until 945. Should I have emailed them to say that I’d get back to them later that evening @4 instead?
Firm indicated during comp time last year that they’d be paying bonuses again after Q1. Lost several (almost all mid/sr) associates since then but haven’t heard about the bonus yet. At what point do I assume that it may not happen? Signed - already paid under market.
Has anyone had any success applying to in-house jobs on LinkedIn or through goinhouse? Feels like I’m sending resumes into black holes and lots of companies don’t use recruiters.
I'm currently with a law firm that specialises in tax litigation and advisory. I'm looking to make a switch to a more transactional role of M&A, PE/VC, Gen Corp etc.
I have extensive theoretical knowledge in the above fields however I'm having a hard time convincing recruiters, can't even get hired for a job of 1 PQE.
Anybody out there that has made a career switch in a different practise area? How did you go about it? DM please
I am currently a gov attorney at a major metro area in the northeast. I recently received an offer from a ID private firm (1900 billable hours) in the area for about 40k more than my currently salary. I was going to accept, but now I’m having second thoughts about leaving a secure gov job with good benefits. Really not sure what to do.
Portable monitor suggestions? Looking for something I can fly with in a carry on. Will be using it at a desk, just preparing for holidays with family.
Five years of experience as a litigation associate (Vault 50 firm). Good grades from a T20 law school. Good reviews. Some meaningful relationships with clients but this has been an area of weakness for me. Generally, extremely burned out & feeling disconnected from my work. Feeling lost generally re: my career. Looking to maybe go in house, I don’t know. I know nothing about in house or how to go about getting such a position. Advice appreciated!
What is the number one pet peeve regarding first years?! Help us before we annoy anyone 😭😂😂

Has anybody filled out a lateral conflict check document coming from in-house? I was at a firm prior to this role. I don’t have access to the work I did at my prior firm and can’t remember half the matters. Feel like I am missing a lot of what they would consider reportable here. That said, the job I’m taking is not in IP or litigation. Should I be concerned?

Just heard of a firm that's reopening - for those who want to go back to the office - and the procedures are insane. Each attorney's office is sealed when they leave, valet needs to clean steering wheels when giving cars back to people, masks are enforced, eating is prohibited unless alone, there's a specific place to get Uber Eats orders, etc. This is simply impossible to maintain in the long term and must cost a fortune. I don't think we'll be going back to the office before 2021.
Can anyone recommend an app or software for tracking billable hours to make it easier to put together and submit timesheets? I work for a small firm and all of our billing/invoicing is done manually. Every couple of weeks I go through my notes to type up my timesheets and I’m wondering if there’s an app that can record my time as I work and then put that all together categorized by client to submit for invoicing. I don’t need to note how much a particular client pays per hour.
I’m sure there’s a thread here somewhere but any advice on how to deal with a toxic partner? I’m talking a constant roller coaster of emotion from “great job!” one day to “this is the worst thing I’ve read” and usually it’s the same document. Zero real direction or mentorship and can’t even ask questions bc you’re told “I’ve been doing this for XX years so do it my way.” Help. I’ve got thick skin but the anxiety is seriously getting to me now after a year.
