Big law M&A attorney with only ~1 year experience (but prior experience in corporate accounting/finance at F500). Really hate big law, so I'm starting to explore other options. What kinds of roles/positions are possible in house? What type of compensation? Please don't reference the Robert Half stuff...unless I don't know how to read any of those sources, they don't seem to be helpful at all at helping me navigate this.

There are a lot of posts now for inhouse lawyers with M&A and securities experience. Comp is all over but with only one year I would expwct they want someone more senior - usually 3-5 at least. But dont let that stop you from applying! Comp for a one year might only be 150 or up to I would guess around 250 depending on experiences and knowledge you can demonstrate and co. Good luck!

Additional Posts in In-House Counsel

Does anyone else’s company do “secondments”? I was asked to “look into” this? Someone who is a non attorney executive had a great idea they could save money and have outside counsel “at their disposal” 24/7 and on-site? Is that how this works? I know we spend a lot of $ on outside counsel but I don’t see how one of them having an office on-site adds much value? Maybe it’s a good thing. I am supposed to “report back.” Are they a joint employee? I was asked to advise “what this will look like.”
