Why would you need accounting certs in consulting?
So consulting has historically been separate from the audit branch at deloitte. Advisory is part of the same branch as audit, since it grew out of risk advisory services. However the lines have blurred significantly and both Consulting and Advisory do a lot of similar work now.
Basically it's a good way to confuse everyone, similar to naming branch of your firm Strategy&.
Yeah I know folks at PDubs who went to partner without a degree, forget certs, unless UPhoenix counts
PMP isn't an account cert
Manager level restrictions on certifications are done by practice. The most famous one is CPA for audit. I know some consulting groups (technical/specialized) that will be hesitant to promote to senior without a cert from the vendor. Overall, however, nothing to worry about here.
EY has cert requirements for ITRA and cyber.
Wtf would you waste your time on those certifications for? Most of those have very little alignment for the skills you need to be a SC/MC manager
Advisory still requires certs for whatever reason
What advisory? Deloitte?
The advisory arm of Deloitte S&1. Need some certifications for promotion to manager
What is advisory? At PwC all consulting services including us fall under advisory. Is it S&O for you guys too, or separate? I can't imagine people getting certifications for manager in S&O, that would be a complete waste
Advisory is separate from consulting, which houses S&O, HC and Tech. Advisory has more of the technical offerings (e.g. Legacy accounting and risk advisory, valuation, analytics) but we also team with consulting on a good number of engagements. Surely causes a lot of confusion / frustration internally
