With all things in life, but especially important for watches....you do you man/lady.
Mad props to anyone who picks this over a Sub.

I love the fifty fathoms. But isn’t there something to be desired about the literal translation of the brand name? “White bread” haha

Hah!

I don’t know why exactly, but it feels somewhat delicate and somehow too modern of a watch interpretation for my taste. Almost feels computer generated.
50 Fathoms auto >>>>> bathyscape in my book

Doesn’t matter what everyone else says, it’s all about what you feel :)
Based on your list of watches, sounds like you have no issue bucking mainstream choices. Bravo
For a dive watch between these choices personally I would go Blancpain fifty fathoms every time, specifically the Automatique line. I have worn a Bathyscaphe and tried on a couple Automatique References, namely the 5008 1130 if you like something around 40mm with a nice fabric strap and 5015 1130 if you are into something 45mm and the classic, beefier look.
The Automatique design speaks to me way more than the Bathyscaphe and feels more timeless... just personal opinion. If you haven’t looked at these I recommend it!
To me the quality of the Blacpain fifty fathoms feels better in the hand and has a more novel appearance vs. the Sub. I love Rolex but find the Sub in particular ubiquitous.
I freely admit I make non mainstream choices with watches, I daily wear a Zenith & various Japanese market pieces, so take my comments with a grain of salt.
I echo everyone here... you do you! If you love it, try it, confirm it and buy it. Go with your gut.
I like the Blancpain. Do you have any other watches in your collection?

It’s a nice watch, although I prefer the Automatique. Just took a quick look in Crown and Caliber, resale is not going to be nearly as good as the sub, but buying a pre-owned is worth considering.

I would def be buying used. Rolex or PP are the only watches I would buy new these days.

Timeless might have one of these in pre-owned. They’re also a Blancpain AD now.
I like the design for sure, my only hesitation is the strap. I believe it takes some time to work it in, and straps never sit right on my wrist. The Submariner bracelet is 1,000x better than a cloth strap, so factor that into the price comparison in your head. I might wait until Basel to see if someone releases a true Sub competitor on bracelet. Moser did a cool diver, but it’s hard to find. Either way, hopefully you can try it on first.

You do you. But, you can get preowned fifty fathoms at a lower price than RRP. You cannot do that with a modern sub. So the way i see it, getting fifty fathoms which retailed above sub would be a sunk cost.
And no im not saying that watches shd be for an investment but they are not cheap unless you’re making millions a year then do whatever you want. But you never know in case you need extra cash one day, it will be better off to sell a sub than fifty fathoms
Fifty Fathom is a legend. But doesn’t retain value/retail price as well as Subs. Would suggest asking for discount and or buy from used/grey market at significantly lower price
