Cloud. Blockchain is just a technique you pick up along the way. Cloud is a major shift.

I do love that all our firms “reinvent” the cloud every 3-5 years like it hasn’t been around for 20 years already. Kudos to all.

Cloud vs blockchain is like comparing the earth to a single country. Do cloud and blockchain can be picked up along the way

like

Cloud is the way to go...Blockchain has applications which require decentralization..in a way private blockchains are tricky..I’d say cloud would require security as a vital feature..and blockchain is a subset of security in a way..so, play your cards according to what suits you..

^Vendor lock-in is a myth perpetrated by old fashioned CAPEX style sales engineers whose jobs are threatened. The truth is THEY locked us in financially with huge upfront licensing fees that had to be amortized over years. Now under cloud OPEX there is no financial lock-in. There can be technical lock-in but if you architect using shared libraries and employ multi-cloud frameworks and tools like Serverless, Terraform, Ansible your “lock-in” is minimal.

Blockchain Is a blip compared to cloud and will be something clients build as an internal capability

What are the best components of “Cloud” to pursue? Are we talking AWS certifications, or some other aspect of cloud?

Cloud

When in doubt, choice cloud

Mostly glorified database use cases are being touted as Block chain game changers, of late. So, "multi cloud" is the future and helps customers in avoid ing cloud vendor lock in situations

Gartner is spot on.

* Cloud First strategy movement: cloud will become the main technology delivery mechanism
* At least 50% of large enterprises will successfully implement an "all-in" cloud SaaS strategy
* 24% of the total addressable IT market will be cloud by 2020
* By 2020, the worldwide public cloud services market is projected to total $383.3 billion

Several years ago, I stopped teaching Shakespeare plays line for line. Instead, I have the kids do a variety of activities to learn the plot, the characters, the history, the language, the literary devices. We watch the plays. We read and analyze the important quotes, soliloquies, monologues, and dialogues. How many teachers out there are teaching Shakespeare differently than the old standard: read an act, take a quiz? And how is that working? Are students more engaged? Best strategies?
