I waited too long in March and missed the whole train! Don't be me :)

Dollar cost averaging. Spread it out so you’re not too exposed on a single transaction, esp if it’s volatile. Like now.

Wait get your cash reserves ready

333 gonna close half my positions, 338 I'll close all. Looking for 310 by end of November. I am expect buyable bounces though.

Curious, if you go in to a store and see something you already wanted at 20% off. Do you walk away hoping it will go down more then too? At the risk of the sale ending and it going back to full price?

If you buy it 20% off and it goes to 25% off a week later, but then the sale ends and it goes back to full price. Do you still feel like you got a decent deal at 20% or do you really beat yourself up for not waiting?

Fresh Junior lateral and a colleague from past firm (different practice area) asked if I could take a pro Bono case because he trusts me with it. It would be completely creditable under my firm’s policy, but would it look weird to ask for pro Bono credit in my first few weeks post lateral?

Just worried it would look like I’m not prioritizing work that actually earns the firm money. Idk maybe I’m overthinking it. Thoughts? TIA!

If you don’t have 8 hours of billable time a day, do you leave as is or do you fill in the gap with non-billable work? While I am in the office, I don’t always get the billable amount since I don’t have enough work. Seems like a waste of time to enter non-billable time just to fill in the gap but I also don’t want them to think I am not there and slacking off.

Do you have trouble putting a title to a risk, a risk is a combination of multiple factors as one equation (i.e Threat event, impact, likelihood, control strength etc.) And really doesn't have a title. A combination of factors are the unique risk.

In essence, the threat event is the title of the risk ? Thoughts?

I am taking a finance class at school and I am asked to perform the market approach. If I am looking at ebitda multiples, do I compare my company’s revenue and ebitda growth to peers? For example, if my ebitda growth is lower than peers would I pick a lower ebitda multiple? Would this be the same way you approach picking multiples for revenue? Thank you

Had a big fight with my gf last night (we live together), looking for advice. She’s a first gen immigrant and her niece recently returned from their home country. She was staying with her brother in law but he’s been drinking a lot so she felt unsafe. She came to crash at my place which I was fine with for a couple of nights. Yesterday she let me know that her niece needs to stay two weeks. She didn’t rly ask she just told me - which rly pissed me off. Am I wrong for wanting to be consulted?

Should we buy a new property?
Context: newly engaged(27F & 30 M) we each own a house 1400 sqft(3 bed 2 ba $280 K bought 2021 @ $232K) & (4bed 2 ba $325 K bought 2020 @ $246 K) both at 3.0 interest rate.
We are looking to buy a new built 4 bed 3 ba for 4.75 for $370 K. The logic here is we will rent out our current properties and slowly build up our real estate portfolio. Don’t know if it makes sense. HHI is $425 K with an additional $100 K in passive variable income. No kids yet. TIA

I’m 30 years old in a HCOL area, married with 2 kids. Household income is about $235k. We have no student loans, no car payments and no debt other than a mortgage on our house we bought last year for $840k (comps on my street are nearly $1.1 so doing well there). We contribute minimum for the match for my 401k and her 457b. I have $69k in savings, $10k in an IRA, and $5k in my brokerage. Where should I be prioritizing my available dollars each month? Boosting my IRA? Increasing 401k contrib?
