Worked for one, consulted for the other... depends on what you want to do, but it's an old and tired industry. I was bored out of my mind

Responses in this thread don't know what they're talking about. Don't be dumb, of COURSE there are cutting edge defense contracts being conducted at these companies (and Lockheed and Raytheon and....). They're the definition of the military complex and in case folks missed it we spend trillions on this industry. There's some seriously cool stuff going on at these companies. That said, you will have to put up with the govt bureaucracy and waste like you wouldn't believe. I worked a lot with Boeing in the past and they were all sharp, and incredibly "by the contract" about everything. Personally I would never want to work for these places but if your passion is aerospace and you can't get into SpaceX it's worth considering these guys.

What if you’re interested in aerospace and defense? What would be considered “cutting edge” in that realm?

Best friend works for Northrup for almost 10 years in Finance as a Manager and it sounds like her job blows! Can't take her phone into the office and works insane hours - more so than mine. Works @ Baltimore NG office.

It can be sexy work if you’re an engineer. All other roles are stagnant support roles primed for layoffs. If you want cutting edge then move to SpaceX and the like, but realize that too will be an engineer-first culture as they mature

Let’s make alternative week travel the standard instead of the exception. I think many projects can succeed with bi-weekly onsite instead of the weekly travel. It’s time for an expectation shift

Companies should start giving out one time expense for all the stuff we bought to make it decently possible to wfh. And also, reimburse half of internet plans. What are your thoughts?

I live in SF and my bf in LA. He doesn’t have any family in the area and I wanted to drive down to stay with him since were remote. Is this a bad idea or would driving down be safer than flying?
