My husband is the older of 2 boys and he always thinks his mom prefers his baby brother. I have seen him argue with her over the same. He loves his brother a lot though. We have a toddler boy and pregnant with baby2. My husband hasn’t been so excited about the pregnancy cause we had twins initially and one didn’t make it, followed by other complications. Hello! Okay, so in the workplace when coworkers ask about holidays everyone always mentions their family - husband, wife, kids. I always feel so uncomfortable when they assume I have a boyfriend/husband when I have a female partner but I feel like correcting them or just saying my partner will get me judged. Do you think the workplace just isn’t too accepting of sexual orientation for always assume the gender roles or am I just completely overthinking this?

Looks like Starbucks is pushing for diversity targets now (per WSJ) 30% of US employees to be people of color by 2025. Seems like affirmative action but applies at the corporate level. What do y’all feel about this?

I was introduced at my former agency as the "female" creative director, and everyone who worked for me thought I was a diversity hire. On top of that, I was told in multiple meetings that the only reason I was invited was because I was "young", which did I mention I'm not. Is any of this type of treatment politically correct?

I am a POC and have enjoyed the diversity of colleagues that I have met in consulting so far. When I look at websites of PE firms, I see primarily white men from Associate all the way to Managing Director level.

Why do you think there are these structural differences? Do PE firms not believe as much in diversity of thoughts/lived experiences?

Do you think that consulting would provide more advancement opportunities than PE does for a POC, given the structural differences?
