I’ve tried to use my ambassador twice and they directed me to the most expensive or newly opened hotels in the city, I ended up booking my own trip both times because I’m an experienced traveler and know what I want for my money.
Better suite upgrade chances than Titanium. “VIP” treatment especially in Asia done by the hotel concierge (club tables at the W, restaurant reservations assistance, hotel car upgrades). But yeah the ambassador itself isn’t helpful at all because they’re swamped with 300 other frequent travelers.
I asked for one thing from my Ambassador - a room at a sold out hotel next March. She told me she couldn’t help me. So I’m unclear on the value.
Yup BCG3 is right. I just call to book a “platinum override” and never have had an issue.
i’ve been an ambassador elite for a few weeks now with no acknowledgement by marriott except that my status changed in the app. i thought people got some free pens and a call from their ambassador?
Agreed, third year as a ambassador not worth imo
I must be an anomaly bc I love my ambassador and totally makes my bonvoy experience. She deals with hotel issues, and remembers my birthday and anniversary and secures upgrades and sends wine/food to my room all the time. She also takes care of changing my room without changing rate and has converted dollar price to points for me as well. The list goes on!!! I’m gonna be super disappointed if I lose ambassador this year since I may not achieve $20k spent required
The ambassador is helpful for issues that arise. It’s not really worth it though. Just a nice to have.
You can switch
My old SPG ambassador was generally pretty great, always a gift when I checked into my hotel, made birthday’s special not just for me, but when family members booked. After the merge to Marriott, I can’t get my Ambassador on the phone, and the service is so bad I decided to just get to Platinum this year so I can get Hyatt status as well.
It was really helpful in Asia, less in Europe, not at all in NA.
From what I have read it doesn’t seem worth it. Nice to have additional customer support but that’s about it.
Customer support is garbage
Had 3 ambassadors in 1 year. Some were great in getting us reservation certificates, ensuring special occasions were special and resolving issues. Others were barely there.
Mixed bag.
What are you comparing to as an alternative? Titanium + 25 nights at Hyatt/Hilton for status there or...?
I’ve found for special occasions (birthdays, weddings, getaways etc) my Ambassador tends to do a decent job of making sure I get something extra.
E.g. I booked my parents a few nights for my dad’s medical care in another state, and was able to get the room upgraded immediately.
Mine has been super helpful
In my mind there is no clear advantage or benefits for ambassador vs. titanium status except for May be “Your 24”. May be because I use the early check in and late check almost always when traveling
well considering i made ambassador over a month ago and they have yet to acknowledge, i would say it is the exact same as titanium.
