Does anyone know if MBB (Toronto) is hiring a lot these days? Currently working at big 4 (manager) with no case interview experience/ no mba … thinking it would at least take me 2-3 months to prep and network. Would trying to get in by Jan be too late? Also, my spouse is thinking of potentially moving to the states next year. Do you know if US MBB helps new hire with their H1B visa? (Understand it may be difficult but want to check if it’s worth trying)
I know there has been similar discussion here recently, but how is WSGR PA Corporate's culture? I've been perusing forums and hear really conflicting accounts with some people saying that it's horrible, while others saying it's good. Also, there was talk on people leaving WSGR en masse to other firms (especially Cooly) and WSGR not being in the best place (although that was pre-covid and I guess things might have changed since then). Is it true that WSGR is/was declining?
If I book a Marriott hotel with my Chase points (thru Chase portal), do I still get my Platinum benefits (eg free breakfast, points/elite nights, upgrade)? The rates on Chase are much better for me!
MBB folks on H1-B who recently switched to FAANG - did you run into any issues with visa transfer? My transfer has been filed and I’m a bit nervous about USCIS’ perception of consultants and the current sentiment around H1-B visas.
The federal stance is shifting regarding the reopening...”He [President Trump] demanded that all of the nation’s schools reopen for the fall semester — until, suddenly, he allowed for some wiggle room.” The Washington Post https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/trumps-week-of-retreat-the-president-reverses-course-as-the-coronavirus-surges-out-of-control/2020/07/24/bf680c2c-cdc2-11ea-91f1-28aca4d833a0_story.html
What is your Remote work experience, Coronavirus Work-Life seems to have changed the way we work impactfully
Can’t decide between an expensive leather briefcase or a regular Tumi for the wear and tear of travel
Attending a conference and the lead for the event from our side booked a handful of Marriott rooms together (one is mine). Will I be able to get points or elite nights from the stay?
Can I use the drop box in Mumbai if I need a stamp after H1B Employer change? Alternately, can I book an appt. in London for new visa stamp (w new employer)? 1st stamping done at home/India '17. Thnx.
How likely do you think it is for COVID to have an impact on MBA FT Fall 21 starts? Asking this because I’m looking to apply to LBS/INSEAD and really don’t wanna miss the global traveling side of the programs.
Is it mandatory to come to office post covid situation? I'm new to Deloitte. I want to understand WFH policy..can we do permanent work from home?
Very anxious about the rest of this year. My partner who I live with lost his job due to Covid earlier this year and hasn’t been able to find another one. He’s running out of savings because there hasn’t been another stimulus package and I am having a hard time getting through the days because of this added stress on top of my job. I can’t share with him how burdening this all feels— it’s like I’m suffocating.
Anyone work with a nutritionist they recommend - specifically for weight loss? Not looking for someone who recommends fad diets ie keto, low carb, etc. or sets ridiculous daily calorie goals, but someone whose approach is sustainable, realistic, and balanced. Gained weight in covid, really struggling to get it off, and would like to get some help! TIA!
How do you deal with family in India believing and spreading every false rumor/forwarded message on WhatsApp? I stopped correcting them a few years ago when I realized it was bad for my relationship with them, but the forwards nowadays especially related to Covid is outright dangerous (and obviously false when read by an educated person). Very worried about this
With midyear performance review season upon us, is there newer biased language should we be on the lookout for? Think most are wise enough not to say “aggressive” anymore, but we know the underlying issue persists. What phrases or points of feedback you’ve heard recently do you suspect are biased?
I joined the team less than a year ago and have been finding it difficult to meet people outside of my team/billable projects during covid. I'm new to consulting and want to meet people outside of my team and learn about their experiences. I've attempted to schedule coffee talks/intro chats with colleagues and joined different groups. What more can I do to stay connected? How do you engage with your broader team?
I already have CSR, Freedom Unlimited, Freedom Flex. Can I somehow downgrade my CSR to a free one given I already have these two free cards? Don’t want to cancel and downgrading to CSP is not ideal either :(
I’m negotiating a rental decrease and have provided proof points that our proposed rent is in line with market. The real estate agent has come back with ‘landlords mortgage commitments won’t let them offer a rent below X’ which is 8% above market. What’s a professional way to say not my problem?
My wife setup an introductory meeting with a T2 strategy firm's managing partner. She doesn't work with him but has a friend who does, which is how this was setup. I'm trying to transition from implementation (10 years) to strategy so I really want to impress. What talking points and questions would you all recommend?
I've been with my current company for 2 years now(total around 4 yoe in 2 companies). My manager told me that he sent my name up for promotion(level 1 to level 2), but the board only selected 1 of the 4 names he sent. He says he really likes my work, and that he will be sending my name again next year. What should I do next? Stick around or switch teams/jobs? Any advice would be appreciated.
Someone in an HR session asked how Diversity and Inclusion retention/promotion efforts could negatively impact people who aren't "diverse." That's a bad look bruh.
Does anyone have experience or thoughts on pursuing Georgia Tech’s OMSCS while at MBB? Thinking of taking one course per semester while working.
Would a SHRM certification be beneficial for a consultant in organization strategy? Anyone in a similar boat?
Looking at leaving big law for a small boutique (I would be attorney 3). Current firm offers 16 weeks paid parental leave; small firm is 12 paid. Is 12 reasonable/enough?

This is how life feels for me right now trying to get a foot into IP/data privacy law: Me, with a JD: Please let me work for you for free (i.e. internship) Company/firm: You are not good enough.
Anyone have experience in both biglaw and government? Started out in govt and always wondered about the pros and cons of working at either (eg. firm has higher comp, more resources and training, more variety of work, gov't has more predictability and stability and public service mission).
Currently remote working from Santa Fe and I love it here. Anyone know what the scene is like for single people in their 30s as I know that the population skews older (like retirees)?
How do you know if you're over saving for retirement? I get the advantages of 401k / Roth, but you have to wait until 65 for those benefits. For those planning early retirement, how are you thinking about this?
This is about to be the first month in my life where I'm unable to pay off my credit card statement balance (about 2.5k leftover) and I'm feeling like such a failure. Any tips on how to mitigate the impact of this and get out of the hole asap?
Weird. 32 and only started thinking a kid might be fun to have with my boyfriend but also thinking “nahhh”. Going to be a fun 10 years figuring that one out 🤔
To those in non-MBB: Would you rather have an offer in hand right now for MBB or FAANG pm? Assume it’s a lateral transition.
I was contacted by a Gartner recruiter for a Public Sector Enterprise Sales opportunity. Can anyone provide insight to what this opportunity would entail? Roles and responsibilities? Ballpark salary and commission? I have a TS/SCI, masters, and 10 Years exp.
My current firm didn’t require a case interview. Would like to leave soon, but want to have my ducks in a row. How can I best prepare for Big 4 and MBB interviews? How did you all do it?
I learnt that I earn almost the same than a Senior AD. Any advices to increase or re-evaluate my salary with my boss? (next post = more info)
I left my former employer in Q4 2019 but didn’t rollover my Roth 401k prior to the crash, so I’ve left it there this whole time and it’s rebuilt nicely (not back to where it was, but closer)...cont
