Booked international biz award for SO and me. Will be traveling with our infant. Called airline to add lap child and they quoted a price of $950. Anyone experienced this before? Any ways around it?

Usually infants are a % of the full fare when paying with points. This certainly isn’t new, not sure if there are workarounds. Might be worth asking in the appropriate airline’s forum over on Flyertalk if no leads here.

like

Depends on the loyalty program. I've read on TPG that certain programs such as Aeroplan are much more reasonable than others.

Yes, percentage of fare depending on airline and location... probably better off seeing if there’s an economy seat for the lap child.

like

Is the kid going to sit there alone? Lap child means like under 5 right lol

Yup, it’s 10% of the retail cost for tax reasons.

Maybe it’s because they want to discourage infants in first class? Granted I do not have kids and I imagine it’s tough but I was in first class on a 10 hour flight recently with an infant across from me that cried for a solid 4 hours through the night. Other passengers were getting visibly upset about it and put the flight attendants and family in an uncomfortable situation

That’s not it at all

For those who have started traveling again... I recently started flying for work and am noticing increased discrimination on Delta Airlines. As a brown person have experienced that in the past, but lately it’s blatant. I’m a diamond and a million miler however, I see more and more out of turn upgrades. Have you experienced and what dis you do about it?

Neither my husband nor I are good with change and when my husband and I went for the ultrasound he nervously asked "she's too sick to eat anything other than her vitamins and water, is it ok for her and the baby to go without?" Our doctor just smiled and replied "don't worry, baby takes" I don't know why but that was so funny to us. It kind of became our mantra as we navigate and move our life around that "baby takes," its made it feel more Us vs Change rather than Me vs Him. Thought I'd share

Anyone have an SO who is a healthcare worker? The two places where my bf works as an OT is having a Covid outbreak (despite all being vaccinated/boosted) and I can’t decide if I should hold off on hanging out with him. Sucks. Can’t decide what to do. Already dealt w/ 2 quarantines b/c of his kid

Need advice. Have some credit card debt that I’ve been working to pay off. Have made progress but want to lower it quickly. We have dual income, with a house (~$300k in equity), 1 kid and 1 on the way. I’ve looked into debt consolidation via HELOC but also have ~$80k in vested equity in my company that I haven’t touched. Get equity refreshes every year. Would it be smarter to cash out $15k-$20k of that to pay debt vs. a HELOC at ~5% given that will still require mthly payments

I have to travel to my client every week and the client’s office is attached to a very nice hotel that’s $250 per night. There’s a hotel right across the street that’s $150 per night.. it’s alright, but not as great. Should I be mindful about how much I’m spending or should I blow up the budget until someone says something?

There are two bedrooms downstairs so I always thought we’d use one of those rooms as our bedroom so we’re on the same floor with baby but it seems husband wants to stay upstairs. And he’s using one of the rooms downstairs as a home office. We bought this house so cannot move in the short term.
