Resort fees are usually never waived, regardless of status.

Update: got it waived! Called the platinum line and asked them to explain what it entailed, then pointed out that majority of those benefits were included with platinum status. 💁🏼‍♀️

Its at a NYC property unfortunately 🙄

Which hotel?

Marquis in times sq

Op tried hard to get it waived recently at the Marquis on a points stay and was told they cannot waive it regardless of status. I even explained how it is BS to include high speed Internet as a benefit of the destination fee when I get that free with my status anyway. Same with the food and drink credit as I get free breakfast because of status. We also didn’t get in until midnight the first night so we couldn’t have used the credit the first night anyway but still would not waive it for even one night. So good luck but unless you get a noob at the desk, you have an uphill battle

Ive never ended up having to pay a resort fee. You just need to throw your status around like a BSD.

Just giving a bit of Gyan to fellow fishers Please please do not ever use CTC comparison between current and next company. If you get an offer, do an in hand calculation. Some companies add Retirals like Employer PF, Gratuity along with Insurance, furniture allowance as part of your CTC. Others don't. Sone also have higher variable package. So when you do a CTC delta you may get a 20% hike but when you discount the above things you will fall short and may end up making less. So choose wisely.

To those maxing out all retirement/savings account and being able to save even more in a brokerage acct/real estate: what is your salary/age/COL? When did you start maxing everything out? I’m in my mid 30’s and started career late (foreigner, bar exam). Just opened my 401k up to matching. Really couldn’t before because of HCOL and lack of income. Trying to see if there is light at the end of my tunnel.

KPMG ups 401(k) match to 8%, from 6%, the WSJ reports. (This news is a few months old.) Article also slips in this…that the bump occurred beginning Jan. 1, “after the firm froze its pension plan on Dec 31”. Was that an employee pension freeze, or a partner pension freeze, or both?

Getting sick of selling the market, watching it go my way, and then roaring back. So, I went back to revisit the daily. Could we be trading an extension long? Is that the reason why this market is going up? In Mid-June, we sold off to 2394 in ES. We can back for a 2nd test in early July but, rallied and we have rallied ever since. 3375 is the objective, 125 points away, and right at old highs. Do we have to goto old highs before a sell off? Maybe? Buy the 21 (yellow) and 51

Partners: How do some partners get fired? I know that on the surface it is due to their performance, but i am curious if you have any data points or observations on any underlying drivers. They were seemingly good, competent consultants good at structuring problems. They cared about junior consultants. Didnt see any issues with clients..

From my high school/college job at a county I have a 457(b) that has $5,215 in it with an ARR of 2.18%. It’s not much, but I am trying to figure out what the best thing to do with it is: leave if there until retirement, cash it out w/ no penalty but income tax, or roll it over into I assume an IRA. Any advice would be appreciated! (My current job has a pension and I pay extra into a different 457)

Help me out, everyone seems to be having much milder symptoms with Omicron. Is the hospital capacity issue due to people panicking and going to the hospital despite having mild symptoms or because staff are out with illness? I'm still wondering why the commercial real estate sector hasn't collapsed. Two years in it's clear WFH is here to stay-at most I could see some companies implementing a hybrid schedule. Regardless, the real estate footprint will be much smaller. Are building owners just trying to keep up appearances by maintaining high rents? It doesn't make sense to me.

I am over the hierarchy and politics in consulting but not sure it that much better in industry.

Our nanny takes my 7 month old out for one, sometimes 2, long walks every day (weather permitting). Love the idea of fresh air every day but its often for several hours at a time and he always returns home crying bc she's pushed him to his limit between feedings. She brushes it off saying hes just fussy which kind of irks me. Im also concerned that he's spending too much time strapped in a stroller. Is it reasonable to ask her to take shorter walks? Am I overreacting?
