If your firm needs you asap are you sure you want to go back now? Sounds like there's gonna be a lot of turmoil when you show up. Imo don't go back now
Are you in EY tax now? And you’re planning to leave on 3/17? If so, sorry dude or gal but you’d be a piece of shit. No integrity whatsoever. I’m shocked that the old firm is willing to take you back at this current moment.
My team’s policy is we will not poach anyone from any firm who’s willing to leave between Jan-April. Nor do we interview people whose resumes show they left a previous firm during that time. Shows poor character.
I’m sorry to be harsh but if you don’t want the above to be true of you, then the answer is - yes, ask if your firm needs you to stay until 4/15, and if they do- then stay. This isn’t about “sticking it to the Boss”, this is about being a person of integrity to the coworkers and peers around you.
Plus it just totally depends on the group or particular workload. I have a lot of off calendar cycle compliance and audit clients. There’s only like 2 months of the year I wouldn’t be leaving someone in a lurch, if I left. I think it makes sense to try and work it out with both, as opposed to saying see ya or waiting until after 4/15. It’s big 4 there’s never not a need.
Why worry? If it’s competitor, you are usually shown the door the same day.
Lol I’ve considered this. Initially I gave my notice on a Friday, they asked me to think about it over the weekend, and walked me out on Monday. Wasn’t sure if being around 4/15 would change this but we’re all just cogs in the end I guess
You should know since you are a boomerang, right? Don’t tell me that did not happen! 🤯
Who is the old firm?
Another b4
Did you get a raise coming back? I’m thinking about doing the same
Pwc2: yes
Sa1: currently at EY but boomeranging back to old b4 firm. Old firm wanted me back and the feeling is mutual. Nothing against EY but the environment here is not for me. Would rather be happy
Why
Couple of reasons but the main one being I just dont like the environment where I am now. Never hated going to work until I switched
