1. OP overall I'm not a fan of how you presented yourself and our firm on this thread. 2. I just joined Booz from college where I received offers from kpmg and pwc (i didn't apply to EY) and I took Booz without question. At my uni most students (all that I know) put BAH over any of the big4 except Deloitte. No knock on the big4 though, I heard kpmg is hella fun. 3. I've truly had an overall great experience here so far surrounded by colleagues from great schools. The plurality being UVA, Emory, Georgetown, and William & Mary. 4. I think my opportunities are fine at this firm in terms of federal consulting however I personally just want to chase a high salary at this time (for debts) and I think Bah is a great jumping off point

Welp don't tell me that pwc5 I'm already here lol. If it's anything I got risk advisory where as Booz said there were opportunities for org strat, strategic planning, and change management here. I'm on some bs role rn but my peer on my contract is doing a strategic plan so I'm optimistic in adopting that function after I prove myself. That or I'd love to jump to a great firm like PWC or D. I also looked at Vault and Booz was 4th/5th in prestige behind MBB and D. Prestige doesn't mean one's a better career than the other but for me that was more so for MBA purposes or name recog in DC. In terms of MBA, although not amazing programs, it looks like Booz has great partnerships with Kelley and McDonough where I've gotten the vibe that Booz gets right in. Not a terrible safety option. For ex. My LA got into Kelley eMBA without a gmat, just applied and got a manager rec. I asked my bud in KPMG and he said that they didn't have relationships like that.

Does it bug you that associate is the entry level at other firms? Makes you sound super junior.

2.5%? Name brand doesn't mean shit if you are getting robbed.

Great attitude, OP. Really want to learn more about your real work...

Thanks BC. Lots of strategic and high visibility work both in federal and commercial space. Still manage to come home every night for dinner with family. Can't ask for more.

^Woah, bite your tongue OP- you work for a fourth tier firm yourself

BAH 1: Not sure if that whole"tearing down the firm" was directed at me, but he slammed the entirety of Slalom Consulting without provocation just to be obnoxious. I was merely exposing the complete hypocrisy of his statement. If there's anything that should upset you, it is that this person deliberately threw themselves on this forum as a representative of your firm and has lacked the maturity to do anything other than antagonize others

@OP you must be ignorant. No wonder you are grinding as a lead associate with a shitty raise and no hope of making senior associate. Lead associate role was introduced along with the vp role to dilute the pool because BAH needed to create more layers. I know because I was part of the first group who got shafted in this role vs going to senior associate right away. I left after 10 years as senior associate. ECAP was fat in the day when thr getting was good. Now they give you shit for 401k, dick on annual raises and even as a senior associate bonus were shitty. You wanna figure things out, get involved with RLF - rising leaders forum. You are clueless about the place that employs you.

OP is stupid as shit and arrogant as fuck. I had no respect for Booz Allen to begin with, now even less. Merry Christmas.

like

OP, I don't see why you can't be more specific, not asking you to disclose client names. Seems to me you are dodging my questions.

Two pieces of advice for you...

1. You don't know what you don't know... Confidence is great, overconfidence = arrogance, that combined with limited experience is a recipe for disaster

2. Temper that attitude, lots of really smart people on here with very broad experiences. We all have a lot to learn.. keep an open mind when others share their perspectives

like

@d5, regretfully, OP demonstrates a substantial portion of BAH culture: self-aggrandizing and dismissive of any serious questions regarding the tenability of his/her business positions. We aren't all like that, though. I've found lots of people who approach business problems clinically and treat coworkers compassionately.

@OP are you a vet?

Thanks to the large chip on OPs shoulder, this has been quite an entertaining thread 🍿

Ha! I used to work at PWC. If we count all the hours you are made to look like you are working you barely make minimum wage.

Assuming you were at BAH prior to the introduction of the LA role, how do feel about being an over glorified associate but not good enough to be a sr. Associate?

like

Wow that's low

like

@OP you are such a dumbass. I came in as an associate, was shafted as the first group when lead associate was created, then made senior associate. I left because I could make partner elsewhere and not be part of just body shop firm. Clearly the only lemon in the case is yourself not even knowing why the LA & VP roles were established.

like

OP does sound like he has a chip in his shoulder; I guess you can do an AMA at any level, but lead associate is meh... more interesting if it was a principal. Regardless, I wouldn't be so abrasive OP... not a good look for you or the firm.

FTM here... My LO is 6 weeks and her "witching" hours has been from 6pm-3am for the last week. She refuses to eat, so she's cranky and overtired. I spent hours crying all night long, feeling like i am not fit to be a mom. I (joking) tell my husband that I want to run away and not come back. Does this get better? I am trying my best, following all the tips from taking cara babies, etc. but nothing seems to be working. I miss working and having a sense of control and accomplishments. 😞
