Not to be a downer, but merit increases are only 0-6%, promotion increases are only 0-3%, and market adjustments are only 1-5% (these are only to be used sparingly). Promotion and merit increases cannot be combined. BAH raises are terrible, and it's no wonder why people leave and come back. I've been told that's the best way to increase pay at BAH.

Don't think you have much of leeway in negotiating merit increase at Booz Allen. Your career manager will give you a number and in 99% of the case that below inflation number will be your increase.

Check Glassdoor. And the proper channel is call help desk and ask for pay bands. They'll notify your senior associate that you asked and (s)he'll set up a meeting with you telling you the senior consultant pay bands in your geography and functional role. The functional role is not what you chose as your "primary role," it's something you're hired into. You can check what it is at careercentral. The pay band your senior associate gives you is a "minimum, 'average,' and maximum," but really it's 25th 50th and 75th percentile. You're probably at the high end or even past the maximum because 90k is good for senior consultants. Your years experience and MBA don't matter for the pay band. Where you are on the pay band influences your percent raise (I.e. If you're at the maximum, you'll need more approval from up the chain to justify higher percent pay raises).

Straight out if MBA. Worked for a boutique consulting firm for 4 years before MBA. Yes Senior Consultant is the title. It's government not commercial. I've been working at Booz for six months and my manager wants to talk about salary in my year end discussion. I want to know where I am compared to others.

OP, care to lead off with your salary?

Depends lot on your project... what's your client bill rate?

Come to acn, you'll get 130 for strategy. I believe that's the C3 going rate

Hey OP happy to help. 1. Are you coming straight out of mba or have you been at Booz Allen for 4 years? 2. Senior Comsultant is the title? 3. Is it commercial? 4. What makes you think the offer is low?

Might as well wait to have this discussion after salary action is communicated in dec/Jan. No changes will be made at this point until the next salary action, or possibly mid year.

I don't want to wait. I want to be prepared for any discussion about salary increase in December or January. I think benchmarks for what other people at BAH are making would be helpful.

That's good initiative, but the discussion is one way at this point in the annual salary action cycle. The only useful benchmark to influence discussion is a competing offer (internal or external). Even then, the firm is not guaranteed to match it.

I understand what you're saying but I still want to know where I'm at compared to others with my experience and education

A useful benchmark would be SA/Principal/VP/above comp to determine whether this is a good place to be long term, particularly because ba3's #s don't bode well for our leadership unless there's some exponential growth.

I don't think you're likely to get an increase. You're barely past the point where you're eligible for a review. 6 months isn't really enough time to prove oneself. Booz Allen isn't as reliant on MBA hires as MBB, Big 4, or other firms. I would focus on mastering what you're doing an shooting for associate next year. You don't want to risk coming off entitled.

Thanks for your answers but I was just looking for an actual salary comparison.

90k

I'm at 92k. No MBA. Been here 4 years. Prior experience.

75k w/ MBA and 10+ years of experience. It really depends on the budget for the contract.

BA2 BA3 are you both SCs?
