Booz has more enterprise licenses to Tableau than majority of Big 4, yet we’re somehow “staff aug”? I’m sorry, are Parthenon, S&, Monitor all tax/audit because they’re housed under a larger umbrella? Course not. Every firm has impressive teams, stop generalizing.

Yes, I agree. Booz is a large and diverse firm. There are staff aug CONTRACTORS who do things like file papers, security guards, tech staff aug in cyber, intelligence, software development, etc. The people involved in this typically like to scream the loudest and our competitors love to highlight this because its easy. But there’s also CONSULTING work, management consulting s&o, technology consulting, engineering, data analytics, architecture design, change management, organizational transformation, it modernization, etc. I’ve seen all types of projects, some of them huge $ for high impact work while engaging with the highest levels of the organization...others not so much. I don’t work on a staff aug project. However sometimes i run into people that do and complain....i just smile :) Booz allen is a big business and we make money off of both types of work.

I enjoy “throwing shade” because I don’t care about KPMG because unlike the rest of these goobers on this app that have their identify tied to their firm. But to say Booz doesn’t do a shit ton of staff aug is just dishonest. And you’re right, KPMG does have a consulting portion of the business. But none of this changes that Booz is synonymous with ass-in-seat staff aug

like

Booz Allen is a staff augmentation firm. Every role that is advertised is tied to a specific project seat that needs to be filled. You will only do what you are hired for. You will never make partner there if you start there as a new hire.

@Bah3 sounds like you’ve been on staff aug projects the majority of your career with Booz😂. Sorry to hear your experience has been negative. Every proposal my team has won includes high level consulting baked in, in fact we always call it “strategy”. And it’s not just for “‘mission criticality”, it’s across federal and commercial accounts. The verbiage gives us a seat at the table for those discussions, which is why the Booz brand will always be strong. The staff aug majority that tends to complain keeps bringing this company down, our team has been told to stop selling this work as a result. The point of this post was to highlight there are teams working exciting projects at every reputable consulting firm, and to not generalize. The later is exactly what you are doing.

...if having Tableau licenses is your standard for not being staff aug, you're probably staff aug.

Accenture probably has the most MS Word licenses, does that mean we’re not a tech implementation shop?

Lol who cares? At the end of the day we are all numbers to them. No need to drink the kool aid from any of them

So if tableau licenses are currency for impressiveness, the PwC group license makes us infinity impressive, right? 🧐

We have a huge firmwide push to upskill in data analysis and visualization. More about getting a large number of people to a particular baseline and further differentiate ourselves in our market. There certainly are great opps for more advanced folks in both commercial and federal, depending on your background and clearance.

Current salary is $73.6k and am unsure of how much I should be going for to make the jump worth it. I know EY FAAS offered a friend $85k in my market but assuming I get mid year promo I’m not so sure the salary bump would be significant enough. Question for you all: Left D to Company A for a 50% raise in TC and slated to start in <1 week. However, just got an offer at Company B for a 100% raise in TC compared to D, or 30% raise in TC compared to company A. Both firms do similar work but B provides a more solid comp package. Job duties would be relatively similar. Is the % jump worth burning the bridge? Would have chosen Company B if the offer came sooner but the % difference in A to B is at my [personal] 30% threshold. TIA!

Plan to go to B-school in 3 years (1 year out of UG now). Long term goal is entrepreneurship. Have offers at a MBB firm for a generalist consultant role and at FAANG for a strategy role. FAANG offer is slightly higher (though both are a 50+% bump on my current comp). Both would have me reset to entry level. Which one should I take?
