Jump ship now. Why would you work for free? That is obviously a sinking ship.
Don’t work another second until you’re paid. Small and getting smaller sounds like it’s dying a slow death. I’m sure there are state and local agencies you can contact as well
I’d stand up and leave the day the first paycheck failed to arrive. And I’d take whatever I could carry as compensation.
If you ever want to see the money they owe you already, do something about it right now for the reasons mentioned above. Find the laws specific to your state, but this is straight up illegal in every single one, and form a plan to get paid before they just ghost you.
This is worse than you seem to think it is — I think you should take this very seriously. Also, backup any files you’re going to want later and also any records you have or can access of your employment and hours. And any communication in which you were told pay was delayed, etc., like emails or texts.

He’s using you as his bank. Unless you’re an equity partner and stand to gain if things go big, you’re being screwed
Leave immediately. Or at least look for a job immediately. No reputable business behaves this way
Not at all
20 minutes.
Leave and take your agency issued laptop hostage.
Walk out now
One more point: if he goes bankrupt and you’re owed money, you’ll get in line behind other creditors. The biggest get paid first. You’re likely to get nothing. So you being nice now and letting him slide will not help you at all if the lawyers get involved
OP, you still alive?
And you’re still there...?
Get out!!!! I lost over 20k with those same promises....
How long has it been and how many checks behind are you? Have you been paid in full after a delay before?
Yeah that’s unreal. Go on strike and do not work another second.
You should find out which state agency to report them to and they'll get the ball rolling on forcing them to pay.
That behavior is only usually afforded to lucky freelancers.... but to not pay salaries means they are in some hot water. Abort!!
The only job I ever quit was a small agency that i caught doing funny business with the paystubs, which is illegal also. I would write an official letter Stating how much they owe you, that you will be charging interest every month you aren't paid, and declaring your "constructive termination" unless paid in full immediately and from then on. Constructive termination basically means you quit but had no other choice - so you can still collect unemployment even though you quit. In the meantime I would also call the State Dept of Labor to investigate them, as I'm pretty certain it's illegal to not pay. It's like breaking an understood contract from the day you started - your orginal offer letter (which is usually also law that they have to give you)
How are you not already on strike?
