Depends on billing rate and other benefits such as quality of health insurance provided, 401k matching, amount of PTO etc. e.g., I’m a 5th year attorney in a metro city making $115k base. But I don’t have a billing minimum, my firm pays 100% of my health insurance (and it’s the top rated coverage available), they offer 401k matching, and I have a monthly expense account which is essentially tax free income. We also have paid holidays, and I have ~within reason if work is getting done ~ no limit on my PTO and since I don’t have a billing minimum, there is no expectation that I make up the billing for time I’m out of the office. I also get annual year end bonuses too. I guess my point is, law firm comp is more than just a calculation of salary v. billed hours.

Hiring, yes. But not for attorneys. We’re trying to build up the support staff right now bc one just turned in notice and we’re trying to avoid becoming short staffed.

What year are you? Hopefully first year...
Right - but I’d rather negotiate lower hours than more money. Which is what I was getting at with my question.
This 100% depends on the billing rate.
I get health insurance through my wife’s company so firm does not pay any of that. 3 weeks PTO. 401k matching. That’s about it as far as benefits. I’m fine with a 90k salary because I have no student loans and can easily pay my bills, but I’d like to have a lower minimum billable requirement. I’m typically billed at $275 but we have some flat fee billing plans with certain clients.
It also depends on your city. Large meaning like Kansas City isn’t going to be the same as Denver or Dallas. There’s a lot to be said for regional differences too.
Also was going to ask what year…I know someone 4 YOE in mid-size market making $150k base.
