What area? Lots of great restaurants. Uchi, Wink, Juniper, Sway... good BBQ like Franklins, La Barbeque, Blacks....

Lots of nice places to walk around. I would steer clear of the bridges under 35. South congress has a lot of unique shops and some nice places to eat. Hopefully the food trailer parks are still open

Rainey street and 6th street. There’s a river float you can sign up for that busses you out like 30 mins. The bats flying out from the main bridge is pretty cool (get there early for a good spot). Terry blacks bbq is a must. Touring the capitol building is also cool and downtown is great to walk around.

Kemuri on 2nd has Japanese Texas fusion, their brisket ramen is on point. They also have a funky menu with jellyfish, stingray jerky, and more! Owned by the Tatsuya chain but it's leaving Austin this year, last chance :)

If you are in your 20s, 6th street. Idk what old ppl do there

Yup mid/late 20s

Oasis brewery around sunset is what I always recommend to visitors. Google pictures of it, the view is beautiful

if you enjoy eating / drinking, check out the east side (around Lazarus brewery, Whistlers cocktail bar, Vixens wedding restaurant). it’s a trendy area that i love for day drinking! in addition to rainey, of course.

do keep in mind that austin has been relatively open for a while, so if your risk tolerance for covid is low you may want to refrain from these places.

if you enjoy the outdoors, i recommend having a picnic at zilker park and letting 79383 random dogs run up to you, hiking a greenbelt trail, and/or checking out a nearby nature preserve (e.g. pace bend park, jacob’s well)

Rainey Street

Eat tacos and bbq!!! Go kayaking, paddle boarding, biking, hiking. You can go zip lining and visit oasis after (touristy restaurant with an amazing view). Rainey street if you’re going out for drinks.

Thank you so much! Any specific restaurants to check out?

Mexican - Matt’s el rancho/Chuys
Fancy - Eddie Vs / Perlas / Aba
Italian - Red Ash / Mandolas
Thai - Titayas

Ask about the bat bridge when you get there. I went to Austin for bar convention and the door was... Underwhelming. Turns out certain times of year the spectacle is less than impressive. I'm not sure when that time is, but do ask.

We were just snowed in there visiting from Chicago and we still had a good time. 🤠 We were blessed with water and power and rented a Jeep. 💡 Idk how far west you’ll go from downtown, but we LOVED Civil Goat Coffee and we had the best meal with the nicest waiter at Freda’s Seafood Grille. 🐐 ☕️ 🐠 BEST avocado toast ever. 🥑 😋 We wanted to go to or carry out from Fonda San Miguel, Carve and Corner, but they didn’t have power nor water while we were there. 😭 We also had fun taking pictures at the Capital and walking around downtown. I heard Uchi was delicious for sushi! 😋

Check our June’s and you MUST go to Matt’s El Rancho

Go west to Fredericksburg. Check out Enchanted Rock near Llano.
