A secondary brand color can solve this issue.

Thank you, I'm in a bit of a bubble on this so thanks for the feedback. Feel much better with your comment that it's relatively kosher and leaning on the additional brand colors will help.

Tough to answer without more specifics, and even with specifics it's pretty subjective. In low-consideration industries where packaging or signage is important a unique color is more consequential. In say B2B or say automotive it likely doesn't matter as much. In general, it's not really advisable to do anything more than slightly evolve a brand's color palette, and it's usually better to leave it untouched.
