Sounds like from your desperation that avoiding Covid is worse than slight increase in risk from getting help. Neither situation is ideal but I think compared to other yuppy families in the city you're disadvantage but but having help whole both withing full-time. I believe everyone i know has help, even if it's just a couple days a week. Maybe unique to my circle though.

You are definitely not alone. Tons of posts like this (and lots of tips and stories) on the Working Moms bowls (which I realize you can’t join 🙂). Bottom line is you can’t do everything at 100% and that’s fine. This isn’t going to last forever. And sucks to have to work off-hours, but it’s necessary (early mornings before kid wakes, after bedtime, weekends when perhaps a neighborhood teenager could play with your kid outside). Outsource housecleaning and yard maintenance. And don’t stress if you give in on things (like more screen time) than you might not do in normal times.

One of us had to quit until we feel comfortable with childcare. This is the best option IMO unless you REALLY can’t afford it.

Daycare or Nanny. I couldn't put in my regular 40 hrs without daycare right now (well not without some creative hours and little sleep) and my husband can't work from home. One of your workplaces might help cover it as pandemic related expense for now. Also recommend a cleaner if you can afford it. Otherwise, just focus on keeping the day to day stuff going and pick one bigger cleaning thing to do on the weekend/day off.

This is the answer. It’s impossible to stay sane + 2 parents working full time + kid at home. Either go crazy, stop working, or get help with childcare (in-home or daycare).

I got super overwhelmed recently, and went to EMDR therapy to lose some of the junk I had been carrying around for decades. It helped a lot, but it is also a commitment. I also got a prescription for MMJ which helps me focus when things are crazy. I asked my doctor what I could do to refocus at work with the preference that I don’t get on any kind of chemical drugs and she recommended MMJ (related to my trauma therapy) and it really works. Good luck OP! Sending 💚

I love EMDR!! It helped me get rid of PTSD from head trauma. I would definitely recommend this!

Hire a housekeeper!! It takes so much pressure off.

Those pesky kids are so inconvenient aren’t they.

Question for fishes who love WFH and claim that they get to spend so much more time with friends and family b/c of it: do all your friends and family also WFH and have the same increased availability as you do? For instance, I WFH, but most of my family and friends still have to go to work due to the nature of their professions - so it's not like I can call my doctor friend or my electrical engineer friend and invite them to hang out during the day.

Anyone tried or have a Tonal? Thoughts? How are the class? Do you feel fitter after using it? How long are workouts? How often are you using it? Is it addictive and fun like peloton? We have a peloton, which we love, but aren't disciplined enough use it consistently. Need to get back into the fitness game now that the pandemic is over. Like the gym / classes, but the time saving aspect of at home workouts is great and better for us right now with baby. Might get this as gift for hubby.

First time expecting mom here. I have a very noob / stupid question. So I read that you're not supposed to let the baby sleep alone in his/her room when newborn. So then what is the point of the nursery?! Wouldn't it make more sense to have the crib/bassinet in the parents' bedroom, or have a bed for an adult in the nursery as well? Confused here.

I just found out i’m pregnant and went to get a check up. my blood pressure is elevated (144/93) and try to eat healthy and stay active. I’ve been under chronic stress with a full time job and a toddler. my husband also has a habit of screaming when he communicates. His entire family yells/ screams and it seems like it’s a habit. I’m just wondering if all of this is taking a toll on my health.

I’m having a bit of sticker shock here as I look at my step son’s and step daughter in laws baby registry. They are asking for a stroller that is $600 an extra seat for it which is $250. It’s been a long time since I shopped for a baby. Am I that much out of touch??Is that normal to pay that much or am I being cheap?? Just wondering.

Thinking about putting on lingerie to put the baby to bed tonight so husband knows it’s going down as soon as he fades to sleep… I don’t have time to get the message across AND get the D while the baby sleeps because the baby can only sleep alone for like half an hour at a time. 😂

MIL turned up to visit newborn with a cold sore which in itself was very strange to me. - I was heading out so asked SO to ensure no handling or kissing of baby. Came home and she’s carrying him around and feeding him. What would you do- I’m horrified and feel angry but maybe I’m overreacting.

I think I am in an emotionally abusive relationship. I am married with a small child. I have been walking on eggshells for years, afraid of triggering my husband and his rage. He is constantly screaming at me or giving me the silent treatment for no reason at all. Interestingly enough, he’s a good father and my child adores him. I don’t know what to do, and I’m terrified of losing time with my child and the impact on my child longer term if I leave him. He won’t go to counseling. Advice?
